Albeit falkirk are clearly a better side than raith he looked far more assured than Welsh did when he played earlier in the season.

Will probably get the odd game here and there, potentially the cup quarter final depending on the draw then he really needs a decent loan in the top flight next season where he’s going to play week in week out. It’s the only way he’s ever going to develop as he’s clearly not going to get enough game time here next season and keeping him as 4th choice purely because he’s Scottish will just ruin him like it did Welsh.

He’s definitely got something about him, built like a brick shithouse and both Ange and Rodgers have liked him but he needs regular games now and he’s only going to get that by going out on loan. We can surely fill home grown quota without ruining Murray’s development.

Dane Murray's had an issue. Dane Murray was someone I was looking at for the Rangers game and playing the day before the game he had a wee sort of moment with his knee. So, we're just assessing that and looking at that.

So, he'll be out as well. Apart from that, everyone's okay.

Ahh, I was wondering about that with Nawrocki coming in, Rodgers had Murray infront of him for Aston Villa both on the bench. He * it coming on, was wondering if BR had dismissed him because of it which would be harsh or if Rocki had said * that and made sure to get ahead the pecking order in training.

He’s clear ahead now, shame for Murray but good attitude from Rocki.

Brendan Rodgers says Dane Murray was in contention to start Celtic's game against Rangers a few weeks ago.

The Parkhead side eventually faltered to a 3-2 defeat to their fierce city rivals.

Nicolas Raskin, Mohamed Diomande and Hamza Igamane all scored for Barry Ferguson's men.

While the post-match headlines focused on Rangers' first win in Glasgow's east end in almost half a decade, before kick-off, much of the limelight shone on Rodgers' team selection.

Indeed, fringe central defender Maik Nawrocki was brought in from the cold to start, with Auston Trusty unexpectedly injured.

Recently, however, Rodgers revealed that Murray was initially due to play before he pulled up the day before the game: "Dane Murray was someone I was looking at for the Rangers game and playing," he said.

"The day before the game, he had a wee sort of moment with his knee. So, we're just assessing that and looking at that.

"So, he'll be out as well. Apart from that, everyone's okay."

Shame, was hoping to see a bit more of him and Nawrocki after Tannadice if we secure the title.

I don't rate Nawrocki but he's much better than Murray..

Dane Murray is even slower than Nawrocki, painfully slow and turns like a sloth. He'll never make it here..

but 21-year-old defender Dane Murray will sit out the remainder of the campaign due to an ongoing knee problem.

Dane Murray has had an issue with his knee, and he'll be out for the rest of the season and then be ready for pre-season.

Happy with him as 5th choice. New CB to partner CCV is a must.

Surprised people haven't made more noise about his performance vs Sporting. He showed he could have a big future for us. Very strong and confident and some of his passing was genuinely outstanding.

His passing was good and he looked a lot more composed.

Won't get carried away as I'm still concerned about his lack of pace and his injury record. Points that Lagerbielke and Nawrocki were caned for.

Agreed, but am more surprised more people didn't bother mentioning Scales' performance who was even better. A lot of folk seem scared to praise a player they've slated in the past, it's so childish.

For the record, I had a few grumbles about Murray recently but he was superb last night. Hope to see more of it.

Scales was absolutely immense as well. I know it was only a friendly but it's got to be one of his best performances for us.

Some of his passing out of the back, along the ground was better than I've seen from a CB in a long time. Cut SP open a fair few times. CCV take note. Just one game though.

He done similar last season. Was absolutely slaughtered all pre-season as being too slow on the ball, proceeded to improve on it drastically, to the point it was a genuine debate whether he should lose his place to £6mil replacement Trusty.

He was superb for a while, stumbled a bit, got injured, then came back in due to Trusty looking pish. He's made plenty mistakes, but has also put in some excellent performances.

Point is, if a player is playing well they should get credit for it. Dane Murray certainly falls into that category, a wee bit of confidence can do wonders for a player.
