Remember BR also had ridiculous CL groups in this first tenure. PSG, Barca, Man City, Bayern and a really strong Gladach team (Lars Stindl with one of the best performances I’ve ever seen at CP)

Praise for the Stindl highlight alone mate. He was absolutely * ridiculous against us, there’s been guys that I’ve seen that level just different, obviously Neymars, Messi’s Xavi and that.

But guys like Stindl and Riquelme really stick in my mind for just been different quality for teams I thought we would match.

Honestly, it’s like when teams came up against us. And then there was Larsson.

Yep totally agree. There’s three players that I watched live at CP that I thought were absolutely exceptional (outwit the usual top world class players)

And they were Riqueleme (who you could argue was in that top word class batch); Lars Stindl and also Danny Parejo for Valencia in the EL. Parejo glided about the place almost untouchable that night

I think there’s a pre-season thread to be had about who the best opposition players you have seen at CP :giggle1:

Parejo for Valencia mate! That’s a shout man.

He was a guy it seemed just effortless for. Riquelme though, think he was half fit probably shouldn’t have been playing due to injury, didn’t break into a jog. We couldn’t get near him, at all, he done whatever he felt like.

And back then that’s the first time I can remember thinking there’s nothing we can do here.

Well, 2nd maybe, when Trezeguet came on for Juventus. And somehow just impossible to mark. Special mention for Del Piero there as well. But they came away thinking * was that Lubo guy. Who was that Agathe. We could answer back.

Riquelme, I don’t think we were even close to able

I could be talking ballox, I have a few creamy pints in me but Rodgers built from a position of strength, Ange built from a position of weakness so Ange from me, and Id love to see the * back.

It’s hilarious how * back and forth I am here for either one but, Rodgers taking over us this spell as manager is fhe only time in his career he’s took over from a position of strength and not to come in turn * around.

First time he took over from Ronny here ffs. Think he actually struggled more from the position of strength

That had just knocked us out a cup. And then he didn’t get beat any competitions for a treble. That was insane.

Last season, he took over a very strong team that had one a treble, incredible football under a manager we all adored. And it wasn’t something he was used to that, I think it showed, struggled to turn us round to his style. It’s often forgot with the demands of the season how little coaching time to get ideas across we have. Because a week or two pre-season last summer? By * we seen it.

Not sure about this at all.

There were esentialy 3 reason why I didn't want BR back.

I didn't like the way he left, IMO he knew he was going well beforehand so could have went earlier and let the incoming manager have the Jan window.

However we still got the treble, so no harm done.
I thought his tactics in Europe were terrible, but he's shown vast improvement in that area.

The third reason is still a bit of a concern for me. That is I didn't/ don"t like his attitude to youth players and projects. His public comments about Shved were unprofessional and this time round we've had comments about Holm being told if he didn't improve he'd be hooked and he was. Tilio has never had a chance and "Rocky" to me is better than Trusty but is also getting nowhere near the first team.
On top of that we have youth players , such as Frame coming in doing well and then disapearing again.
I understand it's hard to bring players through when almost every game is a must win, but that's why he gets the big bucks.
I worry about where the next CalMac or Jamsie etc is coming from. I even worry about where the next Jota or MOR is coming from.
So to sum up I'd say BR is the best manager for progress in Europe but Ange would be the better bet for developing players

Tilio definitely had a chance. Got a couple of appearances and had every day he trained to show what he had.
