Wanyama was a destroyer but could also look after the ball.

We missed the boat big time on Jashari now he's worth + 25 mil & seen AC Milan want him. I'm sure their are players similar to Onyedika in the Belgium league who are within our financial budget.

Iwata was able to defend, had good technique and good passing; but his lack of awareness and lack of movement made players around him play worse. I hated seeing his name on the team sheet.

I could see Bernardo as a defensive midfielder in the future. It would take time and coaching to convert him, but I think it could work. The role suits his core strengths (awareness, physicality and workrate) and his mediocre technique is much more acceptable in a DM.

Fully agree with this. McGregor isn't being dropped or moved forward and we will only play with 2 6's, double pivot or whatever you want to call it in a handful of games. I think Bernardo could be a tenacious understudy to McGregor and we go all out with quality in the two 8 positions.

Mcgregor needs to be rotated more.

The idea that he can't be dropped or rested is concerning. We could be missing out on some fantastic up and coming players in that area due to a reluctance to rotate. He can't keep playing 50-60 a season.

If its anywhere near accurate it's annoyed me that Yang earns 312k a year.

    Football is mad honestly

Eh, I'm more * off by the numbers spinning in the EPL and Championship. Not to mention Saudi Arabia.

If the video is to be believed (and they can't even get our players' positions right), then our wages are indeed as tightly managed as we believe. Engels is making far less than I expected.

I doubt the video is accurate tbh.

Its more that someone as pish as Yang can get a move at 21 and instantly earn 300 bags a year. Even relative to the normal person that's insane money.

Noticed Raul moro is out with Spain at the U21 euros.

You'd imagine we may pick up a player off the back of that tournament..

You think Bernardo has good awareness ? He plays the ball directly back to where it came from the vast majority of the time, boy literally plays like he's got blinkers on. His performance out in Dortmund showed he can't track runners from a deep midfield position, players running off him all night. That was him and Mcgregor playing like a double pivot. He will never be a DM here , and Mcgregor can't do it effectively either against really good opposition.

I'll give you Dortmund, although IMO that was about positional discipline and not getting sucked in rather than awareness. As for the rest, I don't really understand your point of view as I think his awareness is insane for his age. The only others with a similar level of awareness of what is happening around them in real time are McGregor and Forrest, two extremely experienced (and extremely good!) players.

We need more creativity and drive in midfield.and hopefully a bit of dig.

Top drawer #6 is the most obvious, but no credible links yet.
So far, just a million wingers.

Celtic have certainly not wasted any time so far this summer when it comes to recruitment.

As exclusively revealed by CeltsAreHere, Callum Osmand has completed his medical ahead of a move from Fulham, and it’s now only a matter of time before the striker is officially unveiled at Parkhead.

Benji Nygren looks set to follow, with the Swedish playmaker expected to become the next arrival — provided Celtic can finalise terms. An official approach was made this week, as we also reported first.

At £1.7million, Nygren would represent excellent value, with Nordsjaelland open to doing business so long as the highly-rated 23-year-old and his representatives agree personal terms.

Celtic’s ‘buy low, sell high’ transfer philosophy will be front and centre on this one, and sources inside the club are excited about the quality Nygren could bring.

But what exactly can fans expect from the versatile No.10, who is equally capable of creating and scoring goals from wide areas or even as a makeshift centre forward?

A well-placed source close to the deal described Nygren to CeltsAreHere as a player with a “special engine” — quick, technically gifted, and relentless.

He’s a player the recruitment team at Lennoxtown are very high on — and that should excite fans. Perhaps not since Jota became available from Benfica in 2022 has there been this level of anticipation around an attacking arrival.

The expectation is Celtic will pay a modest fee for Nygren and eventually cash in for a sizeable return. It’s a similar strategy to the one in place for Osmand.

Next on the club’s to-do list: finding a deputy for Kieran Tierney, progressing a deal for Michel-Ange Balikwisha if possible, and strengthening the backline with another centre-half.

Judging by the way operations staff are handling business this summer, fans can be increasingly confident that most of the heavy lifting will be done before the new campaign kicks off.

    Winger and a CB.

Surely another few on the list. I thought maybe we'd sign 4 or 5 initial players then it'd slow down maybe till the final week or two where EPL squads and bigger teams squads across Europe are decided.

A reporter in the record or s*n had said simular (I know) that they expected us to do that and then break our transfer record once and maybe even twice again, last few weeks.

Believing transfer rumours I always think just leads to disappointment and frustration. That being said if we close out deals for Nygren and Balikwisha I'd be ecstatic. Badly need strengthened in these areas. Surely we can't have another season of Yang having so many chances. Really wanted/want him to do well but I just can't see it.

Ahead of their return to Europe’s premier competition, the Hoops are aiming to improve their squad, with a new winger near the top of their list of targets.

Another top target for Celtic this summer is at striker, where they have been aiming to strengthen since the departure of Kyogo Furuhashi in January.

Football Insider revealed on 15 June that Celtic are now eyeing a return for Kyogo, who dropped out of the Rennes team following Jorge Sampaoli’s departure.

However, they are not willing to pay anywhere close to the eight-figure fee they received just five months ago, but the move could happen if all parties were willing.

This comes after Football Insider revealed in March that Celtic could agree a deal for Kyogo’s return if they can strike a deal which is too good to turn down.
