I think it's highly unlikely he's being signed as a right winger.
He doesn't have the profile Rodgers likes in a winger/inside forward at all (not quick or skillful enough) but he does have the profile Rodgers likes in a number 10 (tall, elegant, technical).

 

He's quite clearly not a project, bit stupid to suggest so.

 

He doesn't look very fast for a winger, but he looks like a good passer. The clips of him show a lot of dangerous cross diagonal balls being played. Has a good eye for a through ball too.

 

He looks like the MOR replacement. Cultured left foot, intelligent passer and a goalscorer.

Defos looks more of a 10 from his video. Missed a player like that.

 

Not the type of player that excites me due to relative lack of pace (wasn't a fan of Rogic either), but I gotta admit he's a good value signing at 1.7m. Low risk, high reward. Has a knack for goals and assists which will likely come up useful against teams parking the bus. I mean, we were struggling to create chances without Jota and Hatate. Curious ro see whether BR plans to use him on the wing or through the middle. Wouldn't even be surprised if he provides cover at CF.

I enjoy watching a specific brand of football based on transition speed and aggressive pressing. We used to play like that under Ange (he's the one who let Rogic walk btw). Absolutely loved those 2 seasons! I regularly watch Barca games under Flick. Used to watch Liverpool games under Klopp.

BR's style resembles Pep's tiki taka. It's as if comparing classical music to heavy metal. Can't go wrong with either choice. Just a matter of personal preference. Needless to say, my favourite player is Maeda. Very different player compared to Rogic/Nygren. I appreciate Rogic's brilliance with the ball at his feet. He was just too slow for my liking, hence a weak link on defensive transition. Hardly a problem against teams parking the bus. Big problem when we struggle to keep possession in european games. No style/player is perfect. To each their own.

 

His pace seems decent to me but it looks as though his eye for a pass is what recommends him. Not sure why he's being described as a winger because in all the compilation videos I've seen he appears to be playing largely through the middle. I would see him almost as a Hatate replacement in that context as his main value for me is also picking up the ball fairly deep and looking for the killer pass. But this is old footage or I'm missing something.

Either way, astonished Notorious has announced this as it appears to be as good as done.

 

Actually he's the one who convinced Rogic to stay an extra season, then Rogic chose to leave.

 

And Rogic played better under Ange that at any other time at Celtic.

What a conversation I've just witnessed

 

Said a few times I see him as a 'Dusan Tadic' style of player who is not the fastest but posseses high football IQ, composed, natural technical ability & who can play in a number of different positions. This signing makes sense as Rodgers likes to play a Chess Game with his tactics & move the ball around waiting for a opening which requires dynamism in his attacking phases & with someone like Nygren who can play all across the front 3 & has the ability to unlock defences with a killer pass could be the chess piece to Rodgers midfield we have been missing (Still need a destroyer in the 6)

I'm not that fussed about pace in a midfielder...some of the best ones are hardly Usain Bolt. As long as he can get it out from under his feet quick enough and spot a pass I'll be happy
