Meh as meh can be. What does he bring to the team apart from wearing a jersey?

I'll actually be gutted if he remains past the summer..

The midfield badly needs sorting and we need much, much better than him if we're to go to that next level..

 

He's one of them that could end up playing the bulk of his career in the MLS.

 

More A League then Singaporean top flight..

 

Once the dust settles there will be plenty on here telling us to build the team around him next season as he has all the attributes and after a full pre season will be a superstar.

 

We never paid the full £6m so that in it's self shows he wasn't ready fully. However I still think he'll do it. I like him. Needs to work in a few things and hopefully will in pre season.

 

Agree. Think he can be a dependable option in midfield and given we paid a very reasonable sum for him a bit of patience and a full preseason to get fully fit feels like the least we can do.

 

It's been a while since we've seen the sparks of creativity he showed during his loan spell. I don't think he's really brought anything to us at all this season and is probably the weakest midfielder we have.

 

Won’t write him off totally just yet, but he certainly needs to up it.

 

Was looking forward to seeing him in he season was unlucky with injuries but at he same time when fit wasn't anything special. Hopefully a full preseason and he can kick on like kuhn did a year ago. People are quick to slate Engles and expect the world of him but I would have had Bernardo off before him on Saturday.

To be fair I've watched Portugal u21's a bit and they're not good at all and he doesn't really seem to do much talking on the pitch. Only from what I have seen.

 

I still think people just have the wrong idea about him because he came from Benfica. He's just not a particularly technical player and I don't really see him as a future first choice; but he does have his uses and he's worth keeping in the squad.

 

His best attribute is his work rate. Nothing else particularly stands out to me.

When he signed he described himself as an attacking midfielder but he really isn't. He's far better suited to being a ball winner.

He's scored a couple of decent goals and created Idah's winner in the cup final last year, but he needs to be showing much more.

I wouldn't be adverse to him leaving, but considering the amount of players who might leave this summer, I'd maybe give him another season.

 

He's our least effective midfielder by some distance..

Barely scores. Literally can't think of an assist off the top of my head? Is so one paced it's frightening. Never stands out in games, or think he's motm. Most games he starts he's poor and the odd one he's came on and looked decent but that's about it..

There was plenty that didn't want us to sign him after his loan because of all of the above....but potential and the fee being low made it more palatable. He just isn't the answer and is frankly taking up a spot in the squad that could be going to someone else..

I'd far rather see McArdle in than him for example..

 

Are we being overly harsh here? He's barely played recently and then thrust into 90 minute games through necessity.

 

He's not a dud but he's also 23 now, been here nearly 2 years with 77 appearances and hasn't seemed to have improved much from when we first brought him in. That's a bit worrying for me especially given Rodgers is not too bad at developing players.
