It was good if you take the atmosphere you usually get into account.

    1. Songs about the IRA are about fighting Britain. We are now part of Britain and the majority (unfortunately) always vote to stay British. So, these are songs about fighting against our own country and therefore are going to offend widely in Britain. The songs belong in Ireland or in closed venues of like minded people. Not my view but the view of the majority of Scots. William Wallace was fighting for Scotland which was then an independant kingdom so songs about dont offend any Scots.

    2. 700 years makes a big difference. Its no longer personal. Noone has relatives killed they can remember etc. Thats not true of the troubles and even to a lesser degree the earlier old IRA.

    3. Songs about Irish heros in wars against Britain belong in Ireland not Britain. I wouldnt go banging on about Scots heros fighting the English if I was living in England. Common sense. The place matters.

This false analogy has been booting about the celtic sites for ages. Its daft.

We don't get terribly excited playing at home to likes of Falkirk and Motherwell funnily enough.
