In my garden mid morning I saw first Swifts of the year, 3 of them. Always a delight.

Out mountain biking last night on the outskirts of Halifax, 2 deer ran down the field beside me, then jumped the fence ran across my path , then up over the hill. Nature at its best.

Great stuff Johnie. * Badgers are almost always totally dominant over foxes. In a fight there is only one winner. But for various reasons normally because the badger is not fully mature the Fox can be dominant.

I was waving Caroline off yesterday when there was an almighty racket. We both looked round to watch a Magpie and a Carrion Crow having a fight. There is a Magpie's nest quite near so I would imagine the Crow was getting told to "* Off". The Crow landed on a lamppost right near to us. The Magpie flew up , grabbed the Crow;s tail, and threw the Crow off it's perch. The Crow gave an almighty screech as it's tail feathers started to fall to the ground. The Magpie won by a million miles.

A few from Balisodare last week, the mudflats were uncharacteristically quiet with just a few Gulls, an Egret and a small flock of Godwits earlier on in the morning so i had more chance to get a few shots of Johns favourite Gull :50:

Not me personally but one of my kids had a Hoopoe bird in ther back garden in SW County Cork , not that ignorant but never even heard of it before, let alone seen one.
Imagine seeing this tropical wee get in your back garden
    [IMG]

And its been back a few times, while bird watchers run around trying to sight them

Had a great mornings outing today, i went out on a sea life safari on a boat from mullaghmore out around Donegal bay, there was hardly a breeze and the sun was shining so the conditions were near perfect for the trip, we got a short glimpse on the way out and also the way back of a Minke Whale, a pod of Dolphins played under and around the boat for around 40 minutes, we saw Gannets, Guillemots? (need an I.D.) Razorbills? (also requires I.D.), Black Guillemots nesting in the harbour wall and wee baby Wabbits feeding on the grass verge, 60 Euros for three and a half hours of pure joy.
    A few pics to follow.:50:
