He's actually only 1 goal away from equalling Kyogo's best season tally of 34.

If I remember correctly, only Griffiths and Commons have bettered that since Larsson.

Imagine if Rodgers got hold of him at 20/21.

Honestly, if he doesn't get every single POTY award, I give up. He ticks all the boxes. Goals? Check. Assists? Check. Impact in derbies? Check. Impact in CL? Check. Good attitude in ordinary league games? Check. Workrate? check followed by 5 exclamation marks. Has improved aspects of his game since previous year? Check. Good team player? Check.

He has no flaws I can think of even after 4 minutes of pondering. I think he has an attitude that is very inspiring and sets a good example to those around him, without words but through actions and his commitment he has improved the standard without a doubt. Nakamura did the same by setting an example to the younger players. Naka was sometimes criticised for his strength and its only a while afterwards I hear that he was really focused on improving that behind the scenes.
In hindsight I think signing and investing in the Japanese market was a risk that has really paid off. The culture mix and the openness of Celtic to embrace that is really important and it shows that we have a strong foundation of good people who share fundamental values even without sharing a common language.
I'm really proud of how good this guy is and that he plays for us

    Been an insane season.

I wasn't always his biggest fan as I found him unbelievably frustrating at times but he's went to another level. Rodgers deserves a lot of credit too for working with him.

His technique has even massively improved.

Liverpool and Arsenal are among a host of Premier League clubs showing interest in Celtic star Daizen Maeda, TBR Football can exclusively reveal.
Maeda joined Celtic from Yokohama F. Marinos in 2022, one of Ange Postecoglou’s success stories in Scotland.

The 27-year-old left-winger, who is also able to operate centrally, has always impressed at Celtic Park alongside the likes of compatriot Kyogo Furuhasi.

However, Maeda has arguably taken his game to another level since Kyogo’s departure in the summer, scoring 33 goals in 47 appearances in all

Current boss Brendan Rodgers has indicated that the club are ready to enter talks over a new contract with Maeda, whose current deal expires in 2027.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Maeda is emerging as a target for a number of Premier League clubs.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have all watched the Celtic forward this year and it’s hard to imagine that the Japan international hasn’t impressed.

Four of Maeda’s goals have come in the Champions League this season, including a strike against Bayern Munich in Celtic’s narrow knockout stage defeat.

And in addition to the English sides mentioned, Aston Villa, Brentford, Fulham, Crystal Palace, West Ham United and newly-promoted Leeds United have also watched Maeda.

It’s understood that Maeda might be available for around £25m this summer — a similar fee to the deal that saw Matt O’Riley join Brighton & Hove Albion

Speaking to Sky Sports about his Celtic future recently, Maeda confessed that he wasn’t certain what the future will hold.

Asked if he saw Celtic as his club long-term, Maeda responded: “Well, I’m not sure. That’s a difficult question.

“While I’m here, I always want to fight and play for Celtic. I want to keep focusing and playing for the team.”

It’s therefore hard to imagine that Maeda wouldn’t listen to an offer from the Premier League, should one arrive.

A superb talent and one who Rodgers would clearly be loath to lose.

But perhaps Maeda could be ready for a move to England in the prime years of his career, a left-winger who looks equipped to contribute goals at any level

    Sick of this.

It's always been the case that you would sometimes lose one of your best players to richer clubs in bigger leagues; but this modern situation where you always lose them almost immediately they hit that standard (or in the case of the academy even before they hit that standard) truly sucks all the joy out of the game.

Edit: just realised "Graeme Baily" looks like a suspiciously Hun name and there's a derby coming up. Hopefully that's all this is.

Is it Click bait, is this boy Bailey just making pre-Derby noise....i dont know.
But having your best performing first team players and up and coming kids on the wish list of clubs in a bigger leages, or just clubs with money to spend is inevitable....you could argue that Celtic do it

Whether this is just pure speculation or not we will get offers for Maeda this summer.

Whether he stays or goes will be down to how much those bids are and whether he will commit to a new deal with us. If he doesn’t we will have a number we will look to get for him.

I could see why he would be attractive to a top team, in a league that is all played in transitions like the EPL. The space he would have to get in behind plus the shift he puts in defensively, and his versatility of being able to play across the front three.
