Brendan Rodgers Discussion Thread

One game away from delivering our best season since the Seville year IMO. Get it done!

 

There has been some right boring games but there have also been some unreal performances this season, and he just keeps winning trophies.

Hopefully he's backed again in the summer and gets us a few big units in the middle of the park to take us forward. He knows he's being well backed so there really should be no reason for him to move elsewhere at this time.

Better beat they hun * next week though.

 

100%, the recruitment is the only part that worries me. Unless he has identified his own players he'd like or is leaving it up to the recruitment team i don't know (obviously!) but it needs to be spot on...we've got a chance, again, to lay a marker again domestically, but really give the Champions League again, with the position the club is in off the park, i can't see any reason why the board can't give him what he wants....?! The way i see it as well is, if you back him, he'll guarantee you your money back...

 

I can't believe the amount of our support that can't see this either...the team have 4 games to BEAT the number of goals scored in the Invincible season...remarkable...the funny thing about that season too compared with this one is that we've still conceded 3 goals LESS than that season.

 

100% too, first whiff of the board * him about over £375k (*cough* McGinn fiasco *cough*), he'll be off again, and i honestly wouldn't blame him. Why would anyone stay when the board'll make you feel like you've hit a buffer with progress.

 

Best signing we could make this summer for me is BR signing an extension.

 

Was anyone else a little disappointed to hear him completely rule us out on winning the Champions League?

Sure it's extremely unrealistic and highly improbable , but to rule it out completely is a bit much, some room should be left for hopes and dreams, Ajax were a baw hair from reaching the Champions League Final only 5 years ago, one incredible window of recruitment could have the stars all align in one season, that's what I like to believe can happen going into Europe every season

Domestic success under Brendan has been remarkable though, to have only missed out on one single trophy under him, absolutely ridiculous consistency, ruthless

 

I was a bit surprised myself to hear that, but on reflection I think it was an off the cuff comment, not meant to be taken seriously, I hope.

Personally speaking, I think we are only short of two monster central midfielders from really being able to make a real impact in the Champions League, and be at a current standard of say an Aston Villa.

You are right of course, some room should be left for hopes and dreams.
Otherwise what's the point ? We did do it in 1967 and came within a baw's hair of doing it again in 1970.

 

Not really. If he thought otherwise, I'd think he was totally delusional. It would be different if he had said we can't win the EL or the Conference League.

 

Any hint he is willing to extend beyond three years?

 

Maybe he is playing unreal mind games on the rest of Europe

 

I cannot wait till next season when I really think Brendan is going to give us an even better season in the Champions League, I cannot wait. Oh and the title of course once again firmly in the Green and White Bag

 

Just my gut feeling but I think he's gonna be here longer than 3 years.

 

I think he will be here at least for the World Cup coming up ,,,plenty of players to try and get a few for us.

 

I think there's still a lot of people who hold a grudge over the way he left, and it'll probably take us winning the title next year before those people take to him again (and even that won't be enough for some)

You still see people saying they'd swap him for Ange, which I think is madness. Love Ange and his style was a joy to watch but Rodgers is a far better manager.

My only real gripe with him is how we set up against the huns, and if we lose again next week it will be a bit of a negative against him (and there will be a lot of people who will come out with wanting him to leave or happy for him to leave etc if that does happen) but he's done everything else right, was very impressed with how we set up in Europe this season and the football early on was absolutely fantastic.

 

Don't know if anybody seen his bbc interview but he got quite emotional when Kheridine told him he was the most successful living Celtic manager

 

Heard a couple of guys yesterday when Rodgers song was being sung saying he'll always be a rat and they will never sing his name.

Must be a difficult one to navigate.
