I can see that. If he had actually managed to land at least one of his 3 left footed shots on target I would've felt better about his performance but it's really the combination play in that final third for Masia player that is almost 2nd nature like the rondo where he looked better than I can recall in some time

Problem remains of course confidence and lack of burst due to the knee, he will exit this summer but thrilled Hansi gave him a shot again

I was honestly cringing when he was teed up yet again, scuffed another shot wide and was having to be picked up. Even the commentators were overdoing how everyone kept willing and looking for him with every opportunity to set him up..

 

Hard to get too sentimental considering the good fortune with Lamine & others of course but no doubt Ansu’s fall from grace a bit tragic. Still believe he has a good career ahead of him, just not at Barça

 

Tragic state of affairs

 

Fati’s injuries took a massive toll on him as well. It’s not just confidence, it took away a bit of pace he’s not slow but he’s not quick anymore, his way he moves and can turn is more awkward and not as easy for him to do but mostly it robbed him of that explosiveness he had.

And he still tries to play like he still has it. His ability on the ball, passing and shooting can still make him a career not at the peak level at Barca but if he adapts his game absolutely could have done it for Brighton.

Lack of confidence, trying to prove he’s still the player he was when he came through and nobody coaching him into a different type of game (well either that or he’s refusing to learn) is making him squander what he still has.

That last bit, I hope it’s the former and nobody coaching that into him rather than him refusing to learn. I watched his debut, when you see a 16 year old do that on his debut it leaves a soft spot for them.

I done that with Shaqari, and he was disappointing in a different way.
