More likely to score in one on one situations against the keeper than others including Maeda

I keep thinking he will do it for us as, as you said, he was instrumental in us winning the league last year and his part in our victory against YB was important both in prestige and finance for the club. Hopefully he gets his act together soon

I get this arguement on the whole, but the flip will always be that someone else may have done differently, better or worse.

Which makes the whole argument a bit moot.

Had he came on and changed and dominated a game (like that Killie game last season), then it's a good arguement to be made.

But it's not like if we didn't play Idah, we would have been a man down - someone else would have played and could have done the same or different.

Could say that about any player. If it wasn't Idah surely it would've been Oh? Not a chance he would've done what Idah did. Very few loan signings make that sort of impact. If we dropped points in that game at Fir Park when he scored 2 the title would've likely slipped away from us - that was crucial.

He's also got the same amount of Champions League goals as Kyogo in 9 less games. He deserves another year to see if he can replicate some of last season's performances.

I would like to see him start a few games alongside Jota, reckon he would be able to pick out the big man with crosses

I dont think hes really found his feet in Rodgers system but I sort of felt it was similar with Kyogo. The kind of football the team plays doesnt really emphasise getting service to the striker. I think it emphasises more getting the ball to the wider players.

We probably need an instinctive penalty box striker whose good at finishing off moves, pouncing on rebounds, finding good scoring positions. Guys like Idah who like to try and involve themselves in the build up or Kyogo who likes to play of the shoulder of the last man and run in behind dont seem a natural fit for how we play at the moment.

Jota on the right, Idah striker and Maeda on the left is exactly what we should be trying.

I suggested that move in the Kilmarnock pre match thread.

Not really, it's pretty simple stuff.

Shopping regularly in the £10m-£15m market is something we should have been doing for years. But we should be spending it on the correct players.

Spending £10m on someone like Idah is a completely different story altogether.

Absolute disgrace he’s getting into that nick the week of a cup semi imo. Should be doing everything he can to force his way into the side & improve his form. Got to imagine he’ll be disciplined. We should definitely cut our losses in the summer if that’s his attitude.

People can (and do ) have the right to demand that we invest heavily to add quality to the team AND recognise when we have overpaid massively for an average player. It's not a fallacy .

It’s not really simple. If it was, every single club in the world would be doing it successfully.

We don't win the League and Cup last year without him.
We don't qualify for the Champions League this year without him.

Scores two world class goals against Villa away from home.

He's more than paid his £9M already. How many times do I have say that ?

The whole process of signing Idah showed us up as amateurs. We made it known we wanted him and had absolutely no alternative lined up. We basically committed to buying him before Norwich told us the price. It was ludicrous.

Of course we should be looking to spend at this level, but it needs to be within a proper process, proper scouting and various options that we can attract. Not just paying Norwich 10m in desperation.

For what it's worth I'd happily cut losses on Indah, hopefully learn some lessons, and move on.

That's the thing we don't mix it up enough. More crosses and long range shots like against Kille for me. Just feel we are always trying to score the ultimate goal every time. That makes us predictable and it pains me to say it, the Huns know that's what we do. Time for change.

    You've missed my point.

The poster said "people complaining about spending money on Idah are the ones saying we need to spend more money".

It's a silly statement. People aren't saying spend significant sums of money on bang average players.

Nonsense. I wasn’t overly bothered about signing Idah, but I wasn’t disappointed either. I did say if Norwich wanted more than 6/7m then we should have been heading straight for Miovski at Aberdeen, and I stand by that, albeit he hasn’t had a great season at Girona either. So when fans wanted money spent (rightly so by the way), that doesn’t then equate to not being able to voice an opinion on overspending on Idah, which we have. I’m still not totally writing him off here either, and he has almost paid for his fee anyway with some big goals.
