It’s that time of year again when the silverware and awards are handed out, and the Celtic support have been a major factor in the amount trophies the Hoops have won over recent years.

The fans can also decide where the awards go as well, and that’s a rather simpler task – just pushing a button really, although deciding which button to press may be a more difficult task considering the success of recent years.

This Thursday, April 17, voting is once more open in the Celtic Player of the Year Awards, with 10 top prizes being handed out the night – FIVE of which are voted for by the supporters.

    • Men’s Player of the Year
    • Women’s Player of the Year
    • Men’s Goal of the Season
    • Women’s Goal of the Season
    • Men’s Young Player of the Year
So, come Thursday, YOU can have your say on who the recipients are come the big night

And, just to prove that choosing won’t be easy, Alistair Johnston who shares the pitch with his team-mates on an almost daily basis, can’t plump for a winner.

He said: “I’m curious actually, I think there are so many great options.

“Obviously Daizen is scoring goals for fun, and when Cal’s in a match versus when Cal’s not in a match, you notice the difference.

"But when you’re playing for another trophy, you’ve got one in the bag and hopefully we’re close to lifting up this league title, it means that everyone’s been playing really well this year.

“Another one is Kasper, for example. I think there are so many great options so I’m actually curious to see what the vote goes to. But there are so many deserving winners.”

There were a couple of Goal of the Season contenders in Saturday’s 5-1 win over Kilmarnock, and, almost as a spectacular as Cameron Carter-Vickers’ blockbuster goal was Johnston’s head-in-his-hands reaction to the strike.

The Canadian Celt said: “I’ve just never seen him score in training, never mind in a match pretty much.

“To see him lining up from there – he’s done that a couple of times and I was just going ‘No, no, no, he’s going to hit that!’

“But, to be fair, by the time it left his foot, it was right in the back of the net.

“I was probably the most shocked one in Celtic Park – I still thought it might have been a cross! But, to be fair, you watch it back and it’s an unbelievable hit. The ball was just by the keeper in a flash.

“So fair play to him, I’m glad he had one in his locker because I didn’t think it was in there! But it was a * of a hit.”

Daizen Maeda must also be a frontrunner and he’s obviously been touted as a potential winner in the national award ceremonies, with the voting already in for the PFA Scotland awards.

Johnston said: “It’s tough to look past Daizen. I think his goal record speaks for itself and you see the company he’s put himself into.

“I’m hearing some of the records that he’s breaking or equalling. Some of the names he’s being compared to – it’s pretty impressive so I think that’s tough to overlook.

“My guess is he is the frontrunner and I think he’d be a very deserving winner, so hopefully if it can be anyone, it can be Daizen as he definitely deserves it.”

It’s pretty obvious it will be Daizen for player of the year, top scorer and Engels will get Young player as I don’t think there is anyone else that even fits that category.

Aye it's Daizen by a landslide because Kühn's form has dropped since the turn of the year. Schmeichel deserving an honorable mention, along with the captain imo.

Goal of the season is tough. There's been some crackers from distance, and team goals.

The chip from Daizen had both.

Idah's team goal vs St Johnstone as well, with the backheel assist.

Daizen wins by an absolute landslide anyway. Can’t really recall much of the individual goals for GOTS contender but Daizen’s chip was filthy, would probably go with that off the top of my head.

Quite possibly the biggest landslide victory since these awards started.

This is my goal of the season I think. But I expect Kühn's first goal vs Leipzig to win it.

I hate doing these things before the season ends. Still plenty of goals to come and things to happen. This year I suppose the men's POTY and YPOTY are all pretty much set in stone with Maeda and Engles winning. Women's POTY probably goes to Noonan or Lawton.

With one domestic trophy under their belts, the Celtic men's team have set their sights on clinching a fourth consecutive title in the coming weeks, as well as looking to book their place in the Scottish Cup final in May.

Celtic FC Women have also made their mark in the history books, becoming the first club in the country to qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Looking back on the successes so far, together with the excitement of what is to come, now is the perfect time to cast your votes on the key performers and moments from the 2024/25 campaign.

Voting is now open for you to decide the winners across five different categories in the club's annual awards.

Visit celticfc.com/player-of-the-year to register your vote and you will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win one of three shirts signed by the men’s squad.

Cast your vote for who you think has been the most important player this season in both Brendan Rodgers' and Elena Sadiku’s teams.

The goal of the season was for sure a really tough call but I just gave the nod to Idah's goal after the back head and long passing sequence ahead of Maeda's Larssonesque chip.

I agree. It is too early for me. Having said that though this year like you say the POTY and YPOTY are shoe ins for Maeda and Engels. I gave Noonan the nod for womans POTY.

Tough one for goal of the season, both Men's and Women's. Went for Daizen's chip and Shannon McGregor's volley, but was hard to leave some out. Idah's two goals, CCV's thunderbastard and Daizen's at Dundee were contenders.

Yang for young POTY obviously, prep him for getting the big one next season.

Men’s Player of the Year: Daizen. Obvious, the stand out candidate by far.

Women’s Player of the Year: Shannon McGregor.

Men’s Goal of the Season: Kühn vs Leipzig. Was going to go for McGregor vs Hibs but the goal vs Leipzig was special.

Women’s Goal of the Season: McGregor vs Queens Park. Love a smashing volley.

Men’s Young Player of the Year: Engels the only realistic option as none of the others have done a thing of note to deserve POTY.

Not sure but even the year Henrik scored 53 we still had guys like Sutton, Lambert, petrov all having outstanding seasons at the same time.

A case could have been made for a few others that season getting votes.

I dunno if Celtic publish the votes but I'd expect Daizen to pull about 90% of the votes this year.
