You said we don't need another ST because we have Kenny.. I said there's zero evidence one way or the other to back that up.. let's see if he gets more game time when we wrap up the league.

Idah hasn't done enough in his starts.. this season!.. he's failed to capture the explosive form he showed last season.. if you look at how dynamic he was when we clinched the league at Killie, he's been nowhere near that kind of level of performance this season.

Kyogo leaves and he has a chance to cement a claim to the no1 slot, brushed aside by Maeda making it not even a debate, a £9m striker needs to be giving us more. Even if you discount the fee, any Celtic striker needs to be doing more.

I like the big man and hopefully we see him shine as the season draws to a close.. starting on Sun.

But aye, the jury is definitely out..

Aye Kenny hard to judge given we have seen very little of him so far, still what little we have seen so far, have gave glimmers of promise. He looks direct, pacy and quite tall. Still, I think you are being unnecessarily hard on Idah tbh, because he just looks like he is just getting up to speed now, considering he has been for the majority of this season been limited to fifteen minutes here and there, with a few starts interspersed in between, definitely not enough for a big lad like Adam to be fully match fit, with his eye in. I think he has proven himself over the last eighteen months to be a reliable striker given his stats to minutes ratio, his scoring of crucial goals in big games, and the jury is in for me anyway. Maeda has excelled in the striker position this year, going through a wee purple patch, and seems to have more confidence in his own abilities, but we are kidding ourselves on, if we overlook the fact he can still balloon two or three gilt edged chances, before hitting the back of the net, still a work in progress before we can say he is an accomplished, natural and deadly striker I would say.

If Maeda was an accomplished, deadly striker with everything else in his locker he'd be nowhere near Celtic.. :56:

Scores again today against Copenhagen away in the derby. However, he did come off at half time, not sure if injured but you would presume so.

I highly doubt he'll come. Maeda is our first choice striker (if he stay) and i doubt Kvistgaarden would be happy being 2nd choice.

We need another striker. Idah can't be relied upon

Can't see the release clause being true.

Surely we'd just have triggered it.

Still think he'd have been the answer for us. Can easily see why they're asking what they are, for him.

Their rumour was it is not active until this summer which seems to be a thing quite a lot now to get young talented players to sign new deals.

It would also tie in with the narrative that our main target was not available when we tried to sign him but could become available in the summer.

I think Kvistgaarden has a move lined up, hence his comments in the press. I am not convinced it’s to us right enough.

    Just doesn't make sense though.

As if there is a clause we'd just have everything sorted now surely with that fee agreed.

Not sure how these things work, but maybe there's other matters that we can't agree on with the club, like the future sell-on agreement or suchlike...

But yeah, seems unlikely to me too...

Could have signed him 20 months ago at £4M, now price has more than tripled, others are in and now he's likely out of reach.

We are truly world class at 'monitoring', not so much at acting.

That presumes he wants to come here, they may know of potential other interest and waiting to see if it materialises. For example it looks like Frankfurt may qualify for CL and lose their main striker. They were one of the other names quoted as being interested.

As others have said just because it should be straightforward doesn’t mean Celtic will make it that way.

Don't think we need Kvistgaarden anymore. Even if we sign him, I'd still start Maeda through the middle. He's arguably our best player. We should be trying to maximize his effectiveness by using him at his strongest position. I'd want us to sign Kvistgaarden only if we somehow part ways with Idah.

That is a problem. He is very like Maeda in a lot of ways..

More technically polished and better link up but can play on the wing. Same kinda height and stature. Presses well (although can't be Maeda levels)..

Think we'll be after a bigger, more physical type and it absolutely has to be someone who can play with their back to goal and bring others in..

This won’t happen sadly but I actually think he would still be a very good option to sign alongside a target man type.

He is very versatile like Maeda as you say but I think if we lost Hatate and Kuhn you could argue for moving to more of a 4-2-3-1 and Kvistgarden could even play in the 10 role alongside either wing, Maeda can play left or up top, Jota is either wing and you then have a new centre forward.

The reason I can’t see it happen is because Idah would likely be viewed as the big centre forward.

The only thing that puts me off Kvistgaarden is his injury profile but beyond that I think he would be a great signing given his versatility and ability.

However, I agree with others that say I believe we will have missed the boat.

Can't disagree with any of that mate..

His versatility along with Maeda's would be class but it does seem unlikely..

Too much noise now. We'll be working on someone else..

Can't believe this is starting to come up again.

If we weren't willing to pay the various prices over the last two seasons, we aren't gonna do it now.

Another saga we (as a club) will let rumble on as they believe it shows interest and work behind the scenes.

Let the fans think this deal still has a chance and is complex as *. That we are muscling with the big boys.

Reality is, we "monitor" from afar, we ask how much and take months to reply back, only to then be told the price is changed due to various things.
We monitor some more, but never do much else.
