I've been living in Leeds since thatcher forced me to move to find work but I'll be moving back home to Scotland in a few years so it's great having so many recommendations OF WHERE NOT TO MOVE TO.

Been to Saltcoats and Ardrossan on holiday as a child, been to Maybole to watch the juniors and it "appeared" to be a sleepy village. My pals family came from Muirkirk and he used to go his holidays there and loved it. Definitely the standard of people who live there has declined although l worked the Gorbals for 15 years and the vast majority of the residents were good decent people as is probably the case everywhere

Neither really. I wouldn't call either a dump, or anywhere particularly nice.

Shooting myself in the foot, but being honest. Cumbernauld. It’s surely got to be in the top 3 biggest shitholes in Scotland.

You said it, not us. :BR1:

But yeah Cumbernauld is pretty * too, even though there are some good parts to it as well, I mean even Dennistoun has some fancy bits to it too. :giggle1:

And @hiphopaddict Wester Hailes in Edinburgh is a right dive too. Avoid if you can.

In town centre terms I would agree but apart from Carbrain it's not that bad really. Helps being propped up by the posh end ... Craigmarloch, Westerwood and Dullatur. Everywhere else is just standard big town places. Not the best to look at but far from the worst.

Criminal the lack of any sort of attractions though for a town of it's size. Just seems to rely on green space with a few paths.

Cumbernauld sounds like a lovely place and it's not far off a quality sausage. When my estate was built they tried to make it all lovey dovey with weird streetnames. Now we have gangs here like 'the cherryblossom hill posse' and the 'peachcroft crew of pinkleton grove'

Yes you are correct about this.

Cumbernauld is a black belt in being a shitehole. With its Soviet Russia apartment blocks....and its extra boring depressive identical roundabouts....and also it's obvious accent problem among the locals....
It all adds up to making Cumbernauld a top destination for anti-thrill seekers the world over....unrivalled in terms of boredom and lack of imagination....Cumbernauld screams 'SHITEHOLE!!!!' louder than most places in Scotland

Galston is the worst town in Ayrshire.
    Didn't make your list though

Galston is bleak and grey and marooned in the middle of nowhere with very little going on other than houses where miners used to live.

Creepy abandoned theme park nearby...Loudon Castle....

    Also a hun hole.
    As is most of Ayrshire

It’s a nice area basically and you’ll not get any hassle if you’re just minding your own business.

Stenhousemuir is probably considered a wee bit rougher, but any trouble is usually just to do with wee guys drunk congregating next to ASDA and down the area known as the valley.

There’s some good pubs and restaurants around the area.Great for a walk on a nice day with all the different routes,Helix Path and canals etc.

Falkirk area is a nice place to live imo.Good people.
