Despite his early inconsistencies, O'Riley was a bigger talent than Engels and for far less a price.

    My controversial opinion...

Winning stuff as standard all the time eventually becomes less and less fun, and becomes boring for all involved. Even if it's your team winning everything. It kind of goes against everything that naturally attracts people to sport in the first place.

I read a lot from celtic fans claiming that winning is just as exciting to them regardless of how many times we win. I appreciate people just feel differently about such things but I find it hard to believe.

Not offering any solution, nor criticising anyone who thinks differently. But winning too much does get boring.

I think the feeling is more like relief at times now. Let’s be honest if we turn up we win. So really domestically we do kinda expect to win everything if all goes to ability. Still wouldn’t swap it for the euphoria of stopping the 10 or titles like that though.

    It’s not even close.

    MOR was levels above Engels.

    I don't really think that's controversial opinion :56:

Engels has potential and could be great, but if it wasn't for that bad injury O'Riley would be fully first choice for Brighton.

Engels will achieve more in the game than MOR, watch him go next season

I don't agree but think he'll still carve a decent career out for himself.

Gary Hooper for us was superior than Kyogo for us.

From after Henke, Sutton and Hartson left both being after Larsson did so are the actual best since Larsson ( with Larsson in the team tbf not so much peak after he left) the ranking for best since goes

    1) Hooper
    2) Eddy
    3) Kyogo
    4) McDonald
    5) Dembele

Moussa is remembered for his first season and how peerless he was almost every big game. 2nd season though? Only hit 16, and couldn’t be 100% counted on to be arsed week in and out. Man City he’d be astonishing, Partick Thistle useless.

Few controversial ones there to argue about, if Daizen keeps this up next year up front he’ll probably shoot upto first as well

Agree with Hooper top of the list, always have found it strange the notion that he was just a poacher for us.

First touch was exceptional, deceivingly quick over 10 yards, strong, link up play was top and felt like he never missed chances.

Norwich was a horror move, if he went to any front foot team he’d have scored goals.

Griffiths is on that list. People will say it was just one season but there were another 3-4 seasons where he was scoring every other game on average.

Not ahead of the guys on that list though for me. He’s probably at 6th for me.

I'm not sure I would say less fun, but certainly there was a greater sense of achievement in the early 80s when there were four teams winning things. Lifting a trophy after beating Aberdeen, Dundee Utd and Rangers to it really felt like success as opposed to the expectation now that we will win everything.

My biggest celtic memories, the highest highs and the lowest lows, all come from games and periods where we were either underdogs and won, or when winning was not common place. I appreciate its different for different people but I certainly think it used to be more fun for me.

The passing record from the weekend is actually a negative and highlights how much we keep possession just for the sake of it a lot of the time.

Agreed. Moyes' tactics would be a breath of fresh air for us.

Scott Brown was one of the Best Celtic Captains of all time but was only ever a slightly above average player

He was never a Great Player, he made up for any shortcomings in his game with his passion and tenacity, it made others afraid to go up against him

Always said he was more than a poacher. He'd drop deep for the ball at halfway line, start and finish the move.. was a quality player.

From a footballing success point of view this season if we win the Scottish cup, will likely be as good as we can hope for whilst operating under the current model we do, with our Board set up and approach to recruitment.

    We will/did -

    * win the league
    * hopefully win the Scottish Cup
    * get to the last 24 of the CL (Play off round) and came close to knocking out a giant in Bayern.
    * won the league cup

We probably only have the off chance of making CL last 16 to improve upon this seasons football success and the chances of that are pretty slim.

You could actually extend this to say we also will have as strong a financial year as possible while we operate in this fashion as we:

    * have made a surplus in player trading
    * reached the knockouts of the CL
    * hopefully will have a domestic clean sweep.
    * have had an unusually high number of home cup games.

Given our current structure I fear we have reached our glass ceiling and it wouldn’t surprise me if we drop off a little rather than kick on from here.
