Think we need a good few out tbh. Not because they are * but to keep things fresh. Right now we've got too many that have been here a while and won everything. You need thet desire from new players to keep it up.

My personal view is we need to be ruthless with keeping our players, partially because it’s the best for player trading and also because we play in a backwards league and players can lose interest quickly.

A core of players we can keep (i.e. McGregor, CCV, AJ, Jota, Maeda, KT) then the rest of the team should be players who are here 2 seasons at most

Brendan Rodgers insists that Celtic cannot afford to be complacent and that they must always be ambitious domestically and in Europe or else it's the manager who will part company with the club.

Rodgers reckons that the Celtic board should be striving to freshen things up by spending big on new players in the summer to improve in Europe.

The Irishman angrily questioned his players' mentality and accused some of his men of hitting a comfort zone after last week's 1-0 shock defeat to St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park as Celtic blew the chance to clinch the Scottish Premiership in front of their home supporters at Parkhead against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

The 52-year-old is determined to see the club improve again this summer by recruiting more new blood.

Rodgers who will embark on the third year of his three-year contract next season said: "The club and the board have been great, you look at how we've improved in the summer, improved the squad, we will look to do that again in the summer, we can't afford to be complacent, we always want to progress, we can't afford to be content.

"My ambition and the club's ambition will be to always improve and be better, whether it's facilities, whether it's on the field and we'll look to do that again in the summer.

"I think it's all about improvement. I think naturally what you have at our club, and you guys will have seen it, reporting on the club over many years, there is a natural slide of players that move out and come in every three or four years.

"So, I think naturally that will happen. It's the nature of our model here, but it's also the nature of players being here and maybe either hoping to move on or wanting to come away from the pressure that's here because three or four years of it, it's a lot of pressure.

"I just think it's a natural progression for here but we always have to be ready to replace any players that go and the most important thing for us is improvement.

"We always want to improve the team, improve the hunger in the team, that's always key because one of the ways to succeed and guard against what I've been talking about, is you need the freshness. It's either that or the manager goes.

"It's as simple as that. There's no rocket science in it. You cannot be at a club for a long period of time with the same group of players.

"Likewise, the same group of players need a different voice but at this moment, it will be about improving the squad. I think change is needed. I think that's the point. I think that freshness and that new energy coming into your squad alleviates any of that

"We will bring players in to challenge the squad and the team for the summer. That's natural for any team.

"However this team does at the end of the season, come the end, we want to improve it. because you can't just sit on that as the team needs the competition. So, either way, we will look to improve the squad."

The defending champions could retain their fourth consecutive league crown this weekend and seal their 55th title and 13th flag success in 14 years with a victory over Derek McInnes' side and a Rangers loss on Sunday to Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

A wee warning to the board as well in there, back BR and refresh the squad or get someone else in to manage them

Well said. I have a feeling the squad will look much different come the end of August.

We've had a brilliant season overall, thanks to him and we've also tailed off a fair bit, which he also takes the blame for..

Ones things for sure, he isn't messing about though in terms of what we need. That's January he rightly called it out, over and over actually. Then has made it pretty obvious he's no happy with the levels of some in the squad. Now talking about being backed again or else he's away..

Big summer incoming with more money than ever. We'll see..

It needed said and he's no been shy this time around. Freshen things up, improve on quality, and push as far as we can in Europe and maintain domestic dominance.

It's not too much to ask now is it

Telling ye now without guaranteed UCL income dont expect much they have said we need to keep cash for when we dont qualify and with a playoff round we aren't certain to do it next season.

Who wrote that? Because I'm trying to find the part where Rodgers says he's leaving if the board don't match his ambitions.

CB 2 if ccv moves on preferably one who can play fullback too

CDM A Victor Wanyama type not necessarily one gifted on the ball just a pure ball winner

Winger a Daizen esque winger with a bit better technical ability

Striker we need a true poacher goal scorer if he was also big and powerful it would be great

    plus

    KT
    Schlupp

CB is a major issue for us.
Does anyone trust BR to sort it out, given his track record with signing center halfs?
Who was the last decent CH he signed??
He spunked 12M on Rocki Larger and Trusty recently and neither has set the heather on fire.
Right now, I would punt all 3 and look to bring in 2.

Jesus that’s a big ask that. Daizen’* 30 goals, 9 assists or so, and even without that if it’s been Daizen before this season without those massive numbers a Daizen with more technical ability would be a massive ask.

He’s such a unique player, CCV’s interview about Bayern players going over his stats, running, pressing etc and being like * is this guy. And still getting caught out by it, guys at Bayerns level. If there’s another player like him in football, I’d be surprised, one with more ability? He’d already be at the very top level.

The fact Nawrocki and Lagerbielke didn’t even get a sniff of a chance here, I’d imagine both had already been identified and were coming here. Especially Lagerbielke.
