If McCowan and Engels had each other's price tags I am convinced McCowan would be starting ahead of him

There's still enough flashes from Engels to stay a bit positive, but on performances McCowan should be ahead of him in the pecking order

He’s not doing enough to justify the price tag.

flashes here and there is not good enough for me.

    needs to improve.

Not showing anywhere near enough for us to justify the price we paid. Had a spell of a few games where he looked brilliant, but has gone backwards again.

Sorry guys, I just can't take to him. He clearly has some ability (thank *) but I don't like his body language. Really miss Matt O'Rileys craft and infectious personality in the middle of the park.

Absolute Dog *.....And he has been since he started.

No idea what anyone saw in him to justify that fee.....we got bumped.

Young or not.....As i said in match thread... Playing * vs Bayern and Real....Fair enough.....But constantly playing * vs Dundee and Saints.....Not on.

Games he has really stood out in are the home games on the big pitch against cannon fodder when we win 4-0. He has looked great at in alot of those games but when the game is compact and a battle he just doesn't really do much .

He is not a goalscorer at all , which is a big big problem. Different players or not he has replaced MOR in the squad who replaced Rogic. Engels is not in the same league as them two , and offers about a tenth of their creative threat.

Pretty much none of our midfielders look all that great in Rodgers midfield. Most of the emphasis is funnelling the ball out to the wide men. Im less sure now whether its the individual players or the system - Hatate, Engels and Bernardo have all been very patchy and McGregor has looked to have dropped a gear. Are they all just inconsistent or is the midfielder struggling to function.

We paid a lot of money for a 'prospect'. If he was bought for further hopeful involvement in Europe or not, he has to start delivering more than he his now. Do we 'stick or twist'? Give him a full season and see if he develops in to anything near expectations or replace with another untried and untested introduction to what Brendan wants in his playing system. To find players that tick everyone's boxes without compromising certain attributes is difficult at the best of times. Seems you can have skill and knowledge but be a complete bawbag in our game or be brutal tough and sheer minded but can't find a pass for love nor money. Rarely does a player come along with everything covered in every part of the game. But at least tick some boxes for us other than decent-ish corners. Haven't given up yet, he still appears wet behind ears to a extent, a rabbit caught in headlights sometimes, but in a space able get something going if players give him the option. It's not solely on him, so that buys him a little more time.

Not writing him off yet. You can see he has something special. His deliveries from set pieces are unreal and he can certainly pick a sweet pass. He gets the benefit of the doubt for now.

I've no worries about Engels at all, think his levels will go up again next season. Just hope he can have a strong finish to the season...strong meaning affecting games to a decent level.

Considering the money that was paid for him, he’s been disappointing overall. Had a few flashes here and there (and brilliant away vs. Bayern) but wouldn’t care if he left in the morning tbh. Maybe he’ll up it next season but I won’t hold my breath.
