I think we all have to accept that nothing is a given with this Celtic team. We haven't really shown up since the Leipzig game and we can't be confident about beating anyone now such is our form. We have now lost to the leagues bottom club and to a huns team that were knocked out the cup by a team that's about to be relegated which is a major concern. We have too many players just not good enough and still lack a dynamic player in midfield or a ch who can help clear crosses and perhaps score from a corner. Major work needed to sort things out or we could even loose out on a treble

I suppose the only saving grace could be the same approach by St Johnstone in the upcoming cup game as it worked. On the bigger pitch at Hampden in a cup fixture should make us slight favourites on paper, We;ll need to show real desire and start strongly. it's not as much a given as we'd have first thought. They'll show bravery, fearlessness and in a one of game, with nothing to lose and everything to gain, they will be dangerous. We've be burnt once more by a team we showed little or no respect to. We cause our own downfall, we are the reason for our short comings, we just don't perform to the best of our ability. We need to get up for games from the first whistle until the last. Players have one more game to warrant inclusion in the cup match, ring the changes now rather than experiment on the day and regret it after. Players that didn't perform today or went missing and don't perform next weekend or go missing, get to watch from the comfort of the stand. We used to say rest certain players prior to big games, now we say play them and explain they need to impress for inclusion, simple!

The first part of the season we looked good and it seemed as if the team was going to really kick-on and improve but ever since the Leipzig game our form has been patchy and some performances have been truly awful. There's far too much sloppiness to our play, even in games we win, and we constantly make the most basic errors without any sign that we've learned from them, especially when it comes to defending. Looking through the squad I would say probably only Maeda, KS, CCV and possibly CalMac have performed near their true standard for the majority of the season. Of the rest AJ, Kuhn, Jota, Engels, Hatate have had some good games but, on the whole, haven't been as consistent as they should. The rest of the squad is players who show flashes but need to do more(Trusty, Scales, Idah, McCowan, P.Bernardo), players who for various reasons just aren't gonna be a long term option(Taylor, Schlupp, Nawrocki, Forrest, Kenny, Ralston) and Yang who I had wrote-off but these last few months has shown promise. He should be starting over Kuhn atm in fact. We'll certainly win a double and quite possibly a treble this season but the team hasn't progressed for me.

I'd love to know just how many goals we have conceded from cross balls. I'd also love to know how many goals we have scored from the millions of corners we get. The ratio to goals scored to the amount of corners we get must be something else. I used to get a bit excited when we won corners but I don't bother my * now.

Well said, agree with the above.

For all the quality in the side, we seem clueless when it comes to taking corners.
We seem hellbent on making it more complicated than it is, and the end product is mostly laughable.

It´s 100% a coaching issue as well, which in itself is inexcusable.

We will beat them easily in the cup by at least 3 goals

That comes down to aggression as well, and desire. We seem to have * all throughout our team except Daizen. Far too many with a weak mentality.

They all need a boot up the hole and if BR can't give them it then someone else needs to step up and do it. I just don't see anyone in our set up with the balls to go above Rodgers and say something to this group of players. The softly softly approach obviously isn't working.

    No luck.

We absolutely went for it in the second half, plenty of chances created, some great saves by the STJ keeper and even Hatate rattled the post. Some howlers in there, Hatate again skied it near enough out the stadium from the penalty spot (not a pen, just from that area).

A lot of fans do this thing, where a bad result must equate to a * performance. But, for me, yesterday wasn't a * performance. We absolutely went for it and made plenty of chances. Just one of those days where you can't win them all.

The issue though, is that the way StJ setup, was compact and sitting deep - it worked for them and we didn't know how to always get through it. But it wasn't as if we werent at all getting through.

Listening to Kasper on that podcast he done with Keane/Neville etc, it is certainly how we are coached - for defending these things and attacking them.

    Trusty for one!

Was it against Dundee earlier in the season, the opponent stood on his foot while they all done that usual corner "dance" of pretending to jostle with each other. Got completely in to Trustys head, next thing you know the cross comes in and the lad scores.

We are mentally weak in this area.
Julien back in the day allowed Dykes to completely get in his head and then physically bullied him as well.

OK having watched the highlights of the game against saints... we were unlucky many times ... I thought on the whole played ok. The defence was * woeful... can't deal with crosses corners against bottom team... midfield was lackadaisical .... . Bernardo is needed in this team along side callum and maybe reo.. kuhn I though had flashes but needs more consistency ... only seen heard engels name twice didn't see if he had.a good game ... maeda I thought played ok balls into the box no one there to get.them or just.too late arriving in the box. In saying that st Johnstone had the game of their life as did their goalie. Results like this will happen the odd time... not like the huns who get beat regularly and at home. Saints were and are fighting for their Premier league life so played like that. We are casually strolling to the league and it shows in our play so casual and strolling . Brendan needs to have a word. What I will say is our defence needs a boot up their * . Even me at 5 ft 10 I would have coped better with any.of their crosses and balls into the box. Schlupp was beaten nearly every time in the air and he was always second to jump against the defenders. Vickers Johnston trusty schlupp * take control of the box one of yous. Why can't we have 3.defenders sitting marking a man . And let the other one of them go to the * ball when it's coming in. Why wait for danger coming into the box from a cross or corner when prevention is better..... go to attack the * ball.
