Has to be right sided as well..

1 We don't have a capable right footed replacement. 2 To manage the load with Carter-Vickers who picks up a fair amount of niggles/injuries. 3 A succession plan as he won't be here forever..

Agree with the comments about him being better in Europe. Not sure if it’s because he is struggling with the pace of the game a bit here. He is definitely struggling with the physicality of it though, that’s for sure.

Saying he's * at heading is just blatantly false, it's by far his best attribute for us.

Scales passing is absolutely honking as well.

He gets caught in possession far too often, and gets bullied rotten by SPL bruisers.
I think we can do much better. I wasn't for him when we first signed him, and he has done nothing to change my opinion since.

He appears to be in the Jullien/Lenz mould. Looks imperious at times but then can look all over the place(as he did last night). Definitely seems to struggle with the, how shall I say, robust and basic style of our opponents in Scotland.

For sure had a poor game last night. I think describing him as in the Jullien/Lenz mode is a good comparison. Good players but ones that strangely given their size can get bullied and struggle at times because of it in the spfl.

Update from Brendan after he went off

    How's Auston Trusty?

He had five stitches, so he'll be okay.

I think he is poor on the ball, never plays a decent pass forward-like CCV.
And that constant shirt pulling, whats that all about?

Auston Trusty has slammed any suggestion there’s nothing at stake in Sunday's Old Firm showdown.

And the Celtic defender insists boss Brendan Rodgers won’t tolerate his squad taking the foot off the gas

The Hoops head into the lunchtime derby clash with a whopping 16-point lead over their fierce rivals in the title race, with just nine games to go.

Celts – who are sweating on the fitness of skipper Callum McGregor – have one hand on the title. But Trusty has blasted anyone branding the encounter meaningless, saying: “Those people are not players or part of our organisation. We can’t have that mindset.

“The atmosphere and environment in and around this team doesn’t allow it. There’s no room for it whatsoever

“We are taking this very seriously. There are plenty of reasons why it matters.

“This is the kind of game that attracts you as a player – it’s these kinds of matches that provide so much emotion, good and bad. These are the situations you want to be involved in.

“The mindset comes from the top. The manager drives it all and we follow his lead. We give everything for him

Celtic are looking to all but seal the championship – and gain revenge for the 3-0 Old Firm thumping at Ibrox over the festive period. Rangers have been wildly inconsistent this season with woeful displays in the league mixed with sensational performances in Europe.

“Out mindset is to treat every game like it’s a cup final. It doesn’t matter who we are playing against, whether it’s the Champions League, a domestic game or a big derby match.

“We don’t treat it any differently because all games are important.”

Celtic have had all week to prepare for the derby and Trusty knows exactly what is at stake when it comes to the Glasgow bragging rights wars.

He said: “The build-up has been good. We have played a lot of games but it has given us a chance to work on some things individually and as a team.

“You do get a feeling it’s a big week. Throughout the season we focus game by game but we know this week is an opportunity for us to show what we are about.

“We are ready for it. We know the significance of the match with the rivalry in the city. There are the games you want to be involved in and the atmospheres you want to be around.

Growing up in Philadelphia I knew all about the atmosphere around this fixture. I don’t go out much. I go to training and live my life at home but when you do go out you do feel the excitement.

Might seem a bit weird bumping his thread, but I think the last few games against the huns have shown how important he is to us and maybe how underrated he is in our support.

He's essentially missed 5 half's of football against them since the cup final and we've went and conceded 8 goals due to it.

Nawrocki wasn't at fault for the goals today, infact he was excellent, but I think if we had Trusty in any of those games they don't score nearly as much.

Hopefully he's fully fit for Ibrox, I think he'll make a big difference.

The USA national team have confirmed that Celtic star Auston Trusty has withdrawn from the squad from the forthcoming international break as he tries to nurse himself back to full fitness.

The former Arsenal defender had been included in Mauricio Pochettino's squad for the CONCAF Nations League semi-final showdown with Panama on Thursday but has now pulled out of the roster along with Fulham full back Antonee Robinson and Real Betis' Johnny Cardoso

Prior to the game, Irishman Rodgers had revealed that Trusty had not made the cut to face their bitter rivals after suffering a knock to his calf in training.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Rodgers said: "Auston picked up a slight calf knock so he trained yesterday

Trusty, 26, has scored twice in 37 appearances in all competitions following his £6million arrival from Sheffield United last summer.

He has seen off competition from Scales to establish a defensive partnership with compatriot Cameron Carter-Vickers

2 goals in 37 games is poor, considering the amount of corners we get.

I don't even get excited if we get a corner now as we very seldom score from them. Trusty is another in a long list of our "taller" players who have a poor record in converting from a corner.

Same here, cant believe the big cheer that goes up every time we are awarded corners. It did look for a time that Engles had a decent delivery in him but that soon fizzled out.

Three good options for a right footed centre back would either be Harry Darling from Swansea if you are looking for a ball progressing defender he is very good on the ball. Not the biggest for a centre back but he is very good a passing out from the back and decent at stepping out too.

However the one I would pick is Paris FC’s Mamadou Mbow, who is a 25 year old Senegalese CB who is tasked with building play for his team has a high pass completion accuracy and high aerial and ground duel win rate. Has good pace on the turn and is about 6’3.

Lastly Saib Nair of Guingamp, he is more like Darling but a bit more defensively sound. Good recovery pace comfortable on the ball and has good duel success rates. He is only 22 so earlier in his career than the other two but looks a modern centre back.

An eye sore watching him comfortably have a lead on someone to the ball and still * it up..

Happened multiple times today and almost resulted in at least 1 goal..

Not sure hes a great fit for the run of the mill physical Scottish games. He seems to struggle in the physical match ups.
