He needs more minutes. I think he will be good back up to Idah and Maeda through the middle.

Hopefully he gets some decent game time over the coming week, a goal and some time to show what he's about with a confidence booster would be ideal.

I think he’ll struggle now that we have 2 genuine striker options in Idah and Maeda.

Hopefully in the potential 20 or 30 mins here and there he will get he bags a goal or 2 and kicks on.

Plenty of games left and we should have the title wrapped up soon enough - no issue at all with giving him 30 mins here and there and see how he does.

Looks like he isn't fancied by the manager.

Yeah could've easily brought him on for Kuhn and switched Maeda to the right.

Celtic forward Johnny Kenny has been catching the eye in training, but the remarkable form of Daizen Maeda continues to keep him and Adam Idah waiting for their chances in Brendan Rodgers' side.

Maeda has now netted 30 goals for the Hoops this season, often stepping up as the central striker rather than occupying the left-wing position where fans have grown accustomed to seeing him since his arrival from Yokohama F. Marinos in January 2022.

His ability to fill the void left by Kyogo Furuhashi, who departed for Rennes in the recent winter window, has given Rodgers' team a crucial attacking edge.

Celtic spent significantly last summer to land Idah permanently from Norwich City, with expectations that he would serve as a ready-made replacement for Kyogo.

Meanwhile, Kenny returned from a highly productive loan spell at Shamrock Rovers at the start of 2025, where he bagged 20 goals in 39 appearances, including standout performances in the UEFA Conference League.

Despite their credentials, both have had to bide their time in the pecking order.

When asked if he has had to manage Idah's expectations given Kyogo's departure and Maeda's recent role change, Rodgers acknowledged the challenge but emphasised the team-oriented approach at Celtic Park.

Rodgers also took time to highlight Kenny's efforts behind the scenes and the potential he sees in the young Irish forward.

"I look at young Johnny Kenny. I see him every day. I look at the work he puts in. Whether he's off the side, whether he's through the middle, his movement is great. He's a fantastic finisher, 25 yards in. He's really, really good and he's hardly had any game time," he noted.

"I recognise with all the players, if you're not playing, especially at this time of the season when it's one game a week, it can be a challenge. But their attitudes have been first class. They're all supportive of each other and the spirit is very strong."

Celtic's demanding schedule may have eased since the March international break, but with another Scottish Premiership title and Scottish Cup silverware still firmly in reach, contributions from the entire squad will be required.

Like to see him get a few starts after the league's wrapped up, get a proper look at him.

With us trying to get Maeda signed up on a longer contract and his form up top, trying to keep Idah happy and getting game time as well I think we’ll see much the same as we have since January.

Maeda is buzzing to play, loving his role just now, we won’t rock the boat there and neither we should if he’s still doing what he has been - with the Cup Final in mind.

Idah is a player Rodgers likes and he forced the issue for us to shell out the fee we did, he won’t curtail his gametime for Kenny, he’s finding it difficult to get him minutes as it is

Give the guy his chance once the league is mathematically concluded. It could build confidence and with no real pressure other than his wanting to prove and warrant his inclusion for first team football. Would like to see how he does playing regularly for a while with the bigger boys.

From the small amount I’ve seen of his clips he looks like a decent finisher, but for the sake of his career I’d probably let him go in the summer.
