    You are right.
Maybe he is more suited to the Huns, especially if Barry * it up at Ibrox. :BR1:

Let's have a Japanese or Korean manager. Be the first European club to do it.

Maybe you are right but on the other hand ideally he could build a reputation from scratch with decades of experience here he's no doubt learned some things. In management success is everything and if he started off on the right foot then the fans would warm to him. Not saying I honestly see something special in him at this stage but I wouldnt rule him out before he's even tried. I'm sure he is considered a 'project' by our board in some respects and has decades of investment in him.

Honestly would rather not. When he came in Ange was perfect for us but I do think his style is too extreme. I like how Brendan has incorperated his own style and adapted Ange's formula. Its more balanced and I think our current methods are more reliable in Europe. Ange rode the buzz from everyone, I supported him from day one when we were drawing against hearts. It was all about the plan with Ange and the football philosophy. I would rather he left on a high, he might be seriously considering coming back at some point which i'm happy with just not too soon, i'd rather he gained more experience first.

Brown would need to move up to an Aberdeen/hibs type of job and be successful before we consider him

Don't think there's any chance he leaves this summer but Marco Rose would be a good shout for this summer. Unlikely he'll be available in a years time if Rodgers leaves at end of his contract

I disagree. Taking a no-mark club from the Championship to the Premiership is more impressive than being the best-of-the-rest in the SPFL. If he gets promotion, coupled with his connections to the club, he'll have made the grade in the eyes of our board. After that, it just comes down to timing and who the other realistic candidates are.

Nah I disagree. I dont see finishing 3rd in a league with garbage like Livingston, Morton, Airdrie and Thistle and then beating a struggling Dundee or St Johnstone as anything close to being good enough to even he considered for the job here. He'd need to then not just keep them up, he'd need to get them top 6 before you'd say he's worth consideration.

More likely path would be getting a bigger spfl club and doing well there, showing he can transfer his ideas from one club to another and even then I'd still think it's unlikely due to recent managerial appointments we've made and guys we've approached, likes of Howe, McKenna, Maresca, Ange and Rodgers are in a completely different league to anyone managing in Spfl.
We barely sign players from Spfl never mind appoint managers from within it.

However, I suppose all of that pales into insignificance when you take into account his knowledge of the city, which we know certain people in our board feel is a key job requirement

You've got to bear in mind as well that they gave Lennon the job with far less of a CV. The bar for a job at Celtic Park isn't particularly high if you're one of the boys.

I think it all comes down to timing. There is a cycle to the type of manager clubs go for. If Brendan does well, it's another Celtic man, because it worked out well last time. It he * up, you try something different and hire someone with no club connections. Just the way football psychology tends to work.

Aye, his name and reputation means he will 100% be considered despite not being ready or up to it, as Lennon was on the occasions he was appointed.

If Rodgers only stays 1 more year then next season is a huge one for Brown if he's to be seriously considered. I don't see Ayr having enough to get promoted this season tbh, so he either needs to win the Championship at a canter, along with a strong cup run or move on and do well in Spfl although hard to see a suitable post opening up this summer. Hibs, Aberdeen, Dundee utd all unlikely to change manager, most likely position would be Hearts and that's not an option for him.

I think he's much more likely to be the next, next manager providing he continues to do well and makes the right move after Ayr. It's a bit like Gerrard in a way, in that everyone assumed he'd get Liverpool job after Klopp, he then jumped at a job in EPL thinking he'd use that to perfectly position himself for him dream job only to fall flat on his face (again) and is now highly unlikely to ever get it.

You make a good point about the cycle of managers and how that could work in his favour, if we replace Rodgers with a Maresca type, obviously not him now, but someone like that, up and coming foreign manager l and it then doesn't work out of think moving for someone more familiar then becomes an attractive option and could lead to Brown

We shouldn't be tempting fate with this thread, rather we should be putting pressure on the board to support Rodgers in upcoming summer transfer window as I firmly believe that if our board supports Rodgers for attempt at Europe then Rodgers WILL sign an extended contract.

Yeah don't see any scenario where Rodgers signs an extension until the window closes.

He'd be crazy to do so knowing how this board behaves

If the Board back him to the hilt he will be here for several more seasons at the very least, no doubt about that.
