Why would you care about what anyone else says?

Do you speak to Huns in your day to day life that are “loving this”? If you do, * them off.

If you don’t, limit your social media.

The fact you mention them right away, and care so deeply about what they think, and actually speak about trophies first and foremost makes me uncomfortable as *.

    * trophy hauls. I want to support a club that has morals and does the right thing.

The club would never have confronted this. Would have happily have let it rumble on for decades, to the detriment of the victims, and the clubs reputation.

Only addressed it when challenged legally, despite multiple ongoing complaints over the years.

Could have voluntarily taken it on, but chose to argue the Celtic Boys Club was a totally different organisation, despite clear, obvious and intrinsic links.

Always hold your own club to account. If your first thought on this issue is the opinion of Hun fans, then you’re struggling from get go.

Read loads of posts on this that amount to “the Huns just want us to suffer, they don’t care about the victims”.

Why anyone in our support cares what they think about this matter, or lets it affect them, I have no idea.

Reaching a settlement is a good thing for all involved.

We shouldn't be doing whataboutery. It comes across a defence tactic, like well every other club was doing it so it wasn't that bad. They probably were but that doesn't stop what happened at the Boys Club being abhorrent.

I've never read their enormous thread on followfollow.com about the matter or any Facebook posts about it yesterday. The comments would just make me angry. Not just from huns but anybody replying well what about Gordon Neely is trying to point score just like them.

I hope victims of him get justice, not because it's the huns but because of what happened.

While I totally agree with you, mate, that's the quandary, isn't it? We want to support a club with morals who do the right thing but in the past 50 years the only person from the board who appears to have done the right thing is Fergus.

So it surely challenges our views on what it means to be a Celtic supporter and raises the question: What is it we support? Is it the roots, morals and history from before I was born?

What is needed from our current board is a full and unequivocal apology and also a statement demonising the old board who were there at the time of the abuse.
Also in that statement is an apology to Jock Stein for his mistreatment by the old board and in that statement it should be made clear that Jock demanded sacking of abusers and notification to police and the reward he got was removal from his position.

If you outright blame someone, you need proof to say it out loud, otherwise you risk them taking you to court. It would be down to the club to prove they did something wrong rather than the person having to prove they didn't. Those * from back then don't deserve the club's money.

The board have already made a statement and it is p*ss weak, imo.

Is there evidence that Jock demanded police notification? As I said earlier: too many questions unanswered. Who knew what and why did nobody act?

Is their actual evidence as to who knew what back in the day. Has it been established that Jock Stein knew what was going on?

The fact is this was going on between 40 and 60 years ago, and we need to be careful that people's opinions aren't now taken as fact.

Tbh, if it's requested or wanted by the victims, I wouldn't be against a full enquiry.

Big Jock demanded sacking of the abusers when he found out about the abuse.
To placate him they sacked the abuser but made sure Big Jock was gone and brought scum back before getting rid of him for good.
There has been articles years ago about it.
The way they treated Jock was shameful.
Come to think of it. Why would the board defend the abuser unless at least one of them was part of it.
    No proof of it.

Also u agree about the public inquiry but it should include every club in Scottish football and the SFA/SPFL bosses and why they did nothing at the time of the original complaints.

Good this stage is coming to an end and I hope and pray for some kind of peace for the victims.

This has simply always been the case. The very idea, as some seem to be pushing, that the Club/Board should have blindly ignored legal advice and plead guilty is staggering and demonstrates their inability to offer worthwhile/sensible advice/opinion on the subject.

No idea how that image is appearing here as its for another thread and i cant work out how to delete it :43:

I agree, mate. Nobody knows who knew what and how it was dealt with.

The fact there hasn't been a full enquiry is staggering and it's something that perhaps should have been suggested and welcomed in Celtic’s statement

This is nonsense. Only 3-5% of lawsuits actually get to trial. The majority of them reach settlement because lengthy legal battles drain resources and time of both sides of a dispute.

Genuinely, who cares. It's got nothing to do with them, or us.

It's about the victims getting some form of justice and compensation they're due. Nothing more or less.

    Good man sorted now :50:

I usually post on here via my laptop but recently have just been using my ipad (found that gets less adverts hassle) so not used to the slightly different way android/iOS works/set out- that’s my excuse and am sticking to it lol.

I might have missed the reporting of it over the years but are you sure Stein knew what was going on ? I think it was Torbet that got sacked but was the reason child abuse? Genuine question, I'm just not sure that was ever confirmed as fact.
