Passing the Ball about when 3+ up

Can debate it and discuss it as appropriate or not for games such as yesterday, personally I can see the reason but don't enjoy watching it. However, the horseshoe completely possession based football becomes a habit that is hard to break. Meant we struggled to get back into the game against the Hun as literally have no ability to up the attack.

Rodgers had us having a balance between possession and attack in the first half of the season that has gone. That's a worry (and unenjoyable). We should always be looking to get better.

If squad fatigue is a concern blood a few younger players and deal the possibility points may get dropped. Far better and more exciting than watching us go through the (safe) motions.

 

Ha ha no, meant I’d take a 3-0 win every week

 

no problem when we are 3 up ,its when we play like that before we have a commanding lead is the issue i have.the first 15-20 mins of the hearts game was a brutal watch (exactly how we * it v sevco) . rodgers teams have always played that slow backwards sideways pish trying to rebrand it as changing the point of attack is a hoot . the first half of the season when we actually played the ball foward was a joy to watch ,why we cant do that when we are 3-0 up is a mystery

 

I think I did. I should reiterate that I dont think the football is poor to watch in general. But more and more we've had these large spells of just passing for the sake of passing when we're ahead and whilst there have been plenty of good points supporting it, I don't quite understand it myself.

 

Right then enough is enough......letting down 60,000 is a poor show, but making some poor lad 'chat to the missus' when the football is on....that's it - banners at the game next week.....

All joking aside, well discussed here - some players saving themselves, some players (and staff) thinking of the game ahead - but there MUST be an opportunity to bring on some more of the fringe players....I was pleased to see Bernardo back and James getting a run.....might have been happier if at least 1 of those subs had been a youngster - might also have brought a little bit of a spark to the game....

 

What concerns me is the patterns of play we seen in pre season seem to have disappeared. The team played in a more adventurous and aggressive style utilizing a counter attack and counter press, it was like a hybrid of the best of Rodgers and Ange’s style and it looked fantastic. This has slowly disappeared.

 

I Guess its better doing it at 3 nil up than when its nil nil or we are behind…
