    Yeah, it's madness.

    Manufacturers have moved to an “agency model”, which means dealers don’t have to pre-register cars during slower months as they would in a franchise model. The dealer is just there for test-drives, hand over and servicing. The dealer then gets a commission from the manufacturer instead. This also reduces the negotiation room as the manufacturer set the price, not the dealer.

    In summary:
    If buying new...
    • No haggle room.
    • No mats.
    • No full tanks of fuel.
    Second hand market us business as usual.
