I think you are giving BR way too much credit. Go back and watch his highlight reel at Yokohama before he turned up here.

You’ll see he was dropping deep for the ball as part of his game. You’ll even see goals that he scored for Yokohama and you’ll instantly think, he did that chip of the keeper here, he closed down the keeper like that at the huns and his header back across the goal he’s been doing for years.

It’s his consistency that has improved. I said when we were signing him, he’s part Sunday league and part genius. His Sunday league moments are becoming less and less and we are starting to see the genius he is.

Maybe BR has had a small part in his consistency improving, but don’t underestimate how hard Maeda would be working behind the scenes to improve his game. I’ve heard many fans comment he’s always doing extra warmups, I’ve seen Kewell working with him on his crossing when the team have gone back to the dressing rooms. It’s not an accident that he’s improving.

He’s absolutely my favourite Celtic player.

How can you not love the guy. Everything about him oozes class. His gameplay, his goals, his desire, his goals, his work rate, his goals, his interviews, his goals, his demeanour, his goals, He is everything that we want in a player. Did I mention his goals? Destined to be forever in our long list of greats he is simply 'outstanding' at the moment. If ever someone deserved a hattrick against the Orcs it's him. Daizen Maeda MOM, POTY, Celtic legend in the making :notworthy

I know it have been said about Dembele, Edouard, Hooper and Kyogo, but Maeda is the best since Henrik by quite some distance imo. Every other player mentioned was replaceable. Maeda can't be replaced which was the same with Henrik. Obviously not as good but he is a truly special player. The other strikers above was amazing at scoring goals but Maeda has so much more to his game which Henrik had as well.

    30+ goals player? Check.
Problems out wide? Chuck him out there.
LB getting exposed? No problem Maeda will help.
Best presser in world football? Yep
Best stamina in world football? Yep
    Can he header? Yep
Is he a *? Nope, he is a great man.

None of our strikers after Henrik could lace his * boots. End of debate.

He'll comfortably beat Henrik's 35 with a likely 9 games left......and could even hit that 40, especially with 2 games against a pishy St Johnstone..

Could be chasing top spot if he had started the season upfront.

I did always want to see him through the middle and its good to see it and it working.

Cant quote that one since its from a locked thread but

"I wouldn't even be against Jota left, Abada right and Maeda as the striker. Maeda done well up front was it against St Mirren and Japan at the World Cup, can still press and harrass people and he's still a goal threat while having Jota in his best position and Abada flying in for tap ins."

I was one of the guys that wanted him through the middle since early days as well. Got slammed for it constantly lol. The first time he started as a striker he scored a hattrick and it was clear as day that he is a striker.
