Don't understand why anyone would think we'd look to bring him back.

Rodgers said he'd been looking to get out for a while - he's jumped ship and found the grass isn't always greener.

Over the piece he was an excellent player for us but his effectiveness was on the wane, ever since Rodgers came in. The £10m we got should be going into a long-term solution, that hopefully has a bit more physicality to his game.

    Second the post above tbh.

Loved him when he was here, but to want him back is to ignore the reason he left in the first place.

Rodgers said he had wanted to leave for some time, and many wondered if his performances had dipped because of it. Just because it hasn't worked out at Rennes so far doesn't mean Kyogo would be itching to return here. He would likely want to just try a different destination.

He also wasn't as effective as he was in recent seasons. Clearly wasn't suited to Rodgers' system, so no point in bringing him back. I'm assuming this is coming from Michael Gannon's piece the other day suggesting we should sign him for £3m.

    It's lazy journalism.

No way should we bring him back. Love him but he is soon 31 and he wont get back to his best again. I got pretty annoyed when we sold him but if you think about it, getting 10 mill for a 30 year old who we got the best out of is pretty * good business.

We've also been a better team without him in afraid. Maeda has stood up and shined

Seen he was playing for Japan again. Amazing that can play here and can’t get a sniff and goes to a top 5 league, doesn’t play and boom straight back in.

I don't think he would come back.

I mentioned before but I think this move to Rennes was always with the intention of moving on again in the summer.

I think we essentially swapped Jota for Kyogo so from Rennes point of view they haven't really lost money, so now they can punt him on without much consideration. From Kyogo's point of view, he probably seen this as his way out of Celtic, since we weren't going to sell him for £3m this summer, and no one else was going to offer what we want. The Jota thing lined up nicely.

All in, it's worked out pretty nicely for everyone, assuming Kyogo get his US move or whatever he's after.

My one minor concern here is that if Jota hadn't been at Rennes then I suspect Kyogo would've lingered at Celtic unable to get a move because we wouldn't have received the offer we want. This is something I think we should avoid even if we feel we don't get value, but it seemed to work out this time at least.

Brendan Rodgers and Celtic’s recruitment team will move for Kyogo Furuhashi if they strike a deal which is too good to turn down, sources have told Football Insider.

Kyogo’s shock £10million departure to Rennes in January took many Celtic fans by surprise after he scored an impressive 85 goals in 165 matches for Rodgers’ side

That included 12 strikes in 32 games in the first half of this season, and though his exit coincided with another fan favourite in Jota heading the other way, Celtic fans were still saddened to see Kyogo depart.

However, sources have told Football Insider that Celtic and Rodgers have effectively “moved on” from Furuhashi, having brought in an eight-figure fee for the 30-year-old forward and signed Jota in return.

Former Aberdeen CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Kyogo’s exit came as a result of him being “badly advised” and that he could push for a return to Parkhead, but this looks unlikely at present.

Celtic are closing in on a potential domestic treble with the League Cup already won, the Premiership title a formality and a favourable Scottish Cup draw, but attention will soon turn towards the transfer window

Kyogo’s time in Ligue 1 hasn’t gone entirely to plan with just four appearances made for Rennes and zero goals scored, but an immediate return to Celtic Park is seemingly off ther table for the time being.

Rodgers and the Celtic recruitment team have a busy summer of transfers lined up, with the full-back positions, central midfield and centre-forward the three areas they’re most in need of addressing.

Although a striker who can provide similar numbers to him is on the list for Celtic, Kyogo is not, with Rodgers set to look elsewhere for a younger, more physical profile than the 30-year-old can provide.

Only in ideal circumstances – and a deal which perfectly suits all parties – will Kyogo return to Parkhead, with Kieran Tierney looking set to be the only former Celtic man back in green hoops this summer.

Football Insider reported earlier this month that Rodgers is likely to receive plenty of financial backing from Celtic Park higher-ups this summer, allowing the 52-year-old to replenish his title-winning squad.

Tierney has taken a substantial pay cut to rejoin his boyhood club on a free transfer, and Kyogo would likely have to do the same in order for Celtic to even consider re-signing their former number eight.

Kyogo may have failed to hit the ground running in Rennes, but having departed Celtic with three League Cups and Premierships apiece, as well as two Scottish Cups, the term “never go back” is an apt one

Would love to have him back, larssons peak with us was when he was 30-33 but unfortunately he didn't want to be here so dunno why that would change now since he got into the japanese national team by sitting on a bench

What if Kvistgaarden doesn't want to come? Then we might want to reopen the old book.

He won’t come back. Modern Celtic icon and good luck to him, but his time with us is done.

He moved because he wanted a new challenge and didn't think playing for Celtic will get him in the Japan team.
He won't come back, as that would be admitting it failed
he'll just get his move to another top league.
Wouldn't be surprised for a bottom end prem team came in for him, that or the MLS
