He looked quite slow getting about in a cup game for us. His kicking was nowhere near Schmeichel's, no disgrace....but was still quite poor..

He didn't fill me with loads of confidence put it that way..

A run maybe the making of him but the pressure of playing for us and a wee team like Exeter is night and day..

Big Bobo was also suspended for that game so very young John Kennedy played aswell at the Nou Camp.
Insane when u think about it being forced to play 2 untried teenagers and still getting a result in Barcelona and qualifying.

That was on the Thursday night, then we went straight to Ibrox that weekend with Marshall and Kennedy starting again and we pumped them aswell

Sinisalo took gamble of losing regular first team fitba when he signed for us and with Schmeichels injury it's looking like his gamble has paid off, we just need to give him a chance remembering he's not played regularly recently, good luck to him and us

    Agreed.

Lads barely kicked a ball in 10 months or so. Been "out in the cold" when it comes to game time with us.
He's young and clearly wasn't signed as the number one, otherwise he would have started games at the start of the season.

So, lets be patient with him and lets not all jump down his throat if he makes a blunder or two in the upcoming games.

Providing we gets the results needed, barring any disasters or calamitous errors, he'll be fine. Expect him to be nervy in the opening stages but as his confidence grows and he settles in to the role. A few good saves will have us wondering what we were fretting about, equally a grotesque blunder will get us calling for his head and Bain called upon. Calm heads and a little patience required, lets get behind him and not be too harsh critically and nit pick every decision made.

Good point. Its important that he plays with confidence. We have world class goalkeeper coaches who have worked with him to do whats needed, I think he just needs to remember his training. No doubt the pressure will be on him and he'll have to manage our style and add to the numbers in defence when we are passing it about.

Just in addition to what @Peej & @Bad Ambassador noted, it's also important to recognise that while all eyes will be naturally on Sinisalo between the sticks, that attention has to be on the defence etc also. For all the qualities that Kasper possesses, the bare facts are, we have kept 1 CS and conceded 9 goals in the past 6 games, and our overall record in the past 8 games across all comps (P8 W4 D1 L3) does suggest that there are some pre-existing issues that Sinisalo is stepping into also.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has thrown his full support behind Viljami Sinisalo as the young goalkeeper prepares for his first Scottish Premiership start against Heart of Midlothian at Celtic Park on Saturday.

Sinisalo will step in for Kasper Schmeichel, who suffered a shoulder injury while on international duty with Denmark.

With no clear timeline for Schmeichel’s return, Rodgers is confident the Finnish shot-stopper is ready to take his opportunity.

“Yes, Vil will come in and play. He’s a very talented young goalkeeper, and that’s why we brought him here,” Rodgers said.

He had a very good pre-season, he’s been outstanding in training, and I’ve watched him grow and develop.”

Having previously been on the books at Aston Villa and gaining experience on loan at Exeter City and Ayr United, the 23-year-old now has the chance to prove himself at Celtic.

Rodgers acknowledged the pressure that comes with representing the Glasgow giants but has no hesitation in giving the youngster his chance.

With every player, it’s when you’re out in the arena of Celtic and beyond that you’re truly measured and judged,” Rodgers added. “But I’ve got no qualms about putting him in.”

Sinisalo’s first Premiership start comes at a crucial point in Celtic’s season as they look to build on their 13 point lead and lift a third successive league title.

The Hoops' back-up keeper has the chance to make a statement in what could be a defining moment in his career.

Let's hope not, David Marshall ultimately didn't make it here, despite the promising start!

I know mate, got to admit though against Barca he looked like the real deal. And to be still showing up here and there with most younger Celts probably unaware of his history
