Some our fans trying to justify fellow supporters is being kettled for hours is mind boggling to me.

It certainly wouldn't be that if it happened to them.

Doesn't happen to them so they don't care about the treatment of fellow fans

Attauide would soon change if this was happening to them

Camera shoved in yer face for 90 minutes

Police following you before and after games

Turning up at yer place of work

6 am raids in front of kids and families

Thousands spent going through court only to be told not guilty after months of pointless time

If you don’t consent to a search the police can still carry it out if they suspect you of committing a crime. That hasn’t happened here though. They’ve held a load of people basically hostage in the middle of a road for a few hours so they didn’t get seeing the football then let them go.

Well, I think I already addressed the pyro thing.

If you want me to condemn that specific banner, I'll happily do so for multiple reasons that belong in HP&R; but that's just my opinion. It's a freedom of expression issue for me.

I don't see how the polis can be defended here..

Lied to them about why they were being held and then abused their power..

They’re being searched because some of the stuff they do isn’t legal (the merits or demerits on the legalities are for another discussion) & some of the ultra fan groups were acting like animals down Argyle St with the Huns last time out

To me it’s all performative nonsense really - it’s just engrained in the ultra culture that they need to have animosity with the Polis.

I (and probably c.60k others) didn’t get stopped and patted down on Sunday when going to the game, presumably on the basis I wasn’t up to no good. But if I did get stopped, I’d rather do the simple thing of showing my ID

So what about the hundreds more who missed the game because of over handed police tactics

Imagine trying to justify fellow Celtic fans being harassed by police

    Utterly embarrassing

That doesn't seem right to me. The police don't have enough resources to deal with serious things like knife crime and the amazing epidemic of shoplifting. Using Pyro might not be legal; but is that such a priority that it requires such an outlay of police resources? There's more to this than pyro IMO.

The police were caught snoozing before the cup final when ultra groups rampaged through a city centre, fighting and chucking fireworks at each other. The police looked very weak. And it was a terrible look for Glasgow when videos are doing the rounds of women and children crying and hiding in shops as groups of guys with balaclavas on run around battering each other.

So it wasn't quite people stabbing each other but from a policing perspective they can hardly wait until someone gets stabbed or someone chucks a firework into a crowded bar and it hits a kid before they act. Their response at the weekend was far more likely a reaction to that rather than fear about edgy banners or pyro displays.

So what's your excuse for the way cops treated regular fans then including children

Incredible you and others are ignoring this

Oh, that puts a very different perspective on things.

I'll defend political expression all day long and I think some sensible compromise ought to be reached regarding pyro; but if they're going to start acting like casuals and having gang fights in balaclavas, I'm in the "actions have consequences" school of thought for that all day long.

Don't have an excuse. All I was saying is that the response clearly came from being seen to be too lax last time round sitting watching neds run amok and cause bother. I don't think they are responding to football displays.

So if this was just to stop the ultras why didn't they let regular fans leave then

You and others trying to justify the police response utterly embarrassing
