It is no longer a secret that FC Twente would love to continue with Gustaf Lagerbielke . The Swede is currently on loan from Celtic , but FC Twente has not included an option to buy in the contract. Technical director Arnold Bruggink has made the Twente interest known by means of an initial offer, but this was immediately rejected. However, a third party is still needed to reach a deal. The two-time Swedish international must also be keen on a longer period at FC Twente. He also seems to be positive about the match



I'll wait and see. Everything is still open. In football, it's not always the player himself who can make decisions. But I'm happy here and the club is great for me. Makes it more and more obvious how much mentality is a factor in being a Celtic player.

Bernabei, Barkas, Lagerbielke have all shown up well at other clubs yet just didn't have the testicular fortitude to make it here.

I don't think mentality is an issue with Lagerbielke tbf, I mean he was thrown into a makeshift side that won at Ibrox and was arguably MotM. Likewise, he did well in the CL for us too, even scoring the winner against Feyenoord.

He just doesn't have the pace needed for a team who's CBs spend a lot of their time closer to the halfway line. Glad he's doing well.

Seems a likeable guy just didn't work out for him at us due to his lack of mobility. Hope he gets the move he wants in the summer.

 

We should be looking to make a profit on guys like this..

Just because hes nowhere near suited to our defensive high line then it doesn't mean we shouldn't be demanding good money for a young international who is playing well. He's up against better opposition than our own domestic league....and showing up well in the Europa also..

 

Was he given a fair crack of the whip at Celtic?
I dont recall him getting a run of games???

 

He didnt get a huge run but I think we seen enough to see him for what he is, a decent defender who is good in the air with some physicality but seemed very clumsy and slow in the turn especially.

 

Completely agree.

He's turned up there so hopefully someone pays for him and turn us a profit.

If he gets into the team of the season there, we should be looking at a decent wedge come summer window.

 

The manager will have seen him every day in training.

 

Very likable guy, just not cut out to play for us. Great to see him doing well though.
