A midfield selection of McGregor, Bernardo, Miller, McCowan, Engels and Hatate would be perfect.

Miller would get a lot more minutes than it might seem - he’s very good in all midfield positions and his set piece delivery is top, probably even better than Engels’

I can't see Hatate being here next season.

Miller has the potential to be massive for us in the not too distant future.

Still maintain he's the ideal replacement for mcgregor.

    * moaning about 4-5 million is too much for a lad who’s been a mainstay in the Motherwell side since he broke through.

we paid 4.4 million for Scott Brown back in the day. 4-5 million for one of the leagues best young talents is fair.

The only thing he lacks is real pace but he's technically excellent and gets about the pitch well..

If he stuck around longer term but I see a lot of similarities to Matt O’Riley too, technically very sound, good eye for a line breaking pass, can take the ball under pressure, sneakily good off the ball just lack that bit of top level pace from having it all. The other thing is he is a few years younger than when we got O’Riley.

On price £4-5m would be a decent deal but Motherwell will need to watch as they keep feeding lines about not needing to sell etc, they aren’t true, his last window for a decent fee is the summer or he can sign a pre contract in the January and be off down south or abroad for next to nothing. No team in Scotland can afford that for their top asset.

If Hatate did go you could get Miller and another for the fee you would likely get and strengthen the overall squad without dropping the quality of the first team.

I agree, I get similar vibes from watching him. Technically excellent and a good football brain, knows what’s going on and how to react.

I think O’Riley’s best position would’ve been in the base of midfield though, and Miller as a McGregor successor makes sense

Before O’Riley’s last season I would have agreed but he turned into a goal machine.

I do agree longer term Lennon Miller would make a cracking deeper lying player but I think the now he could play either role whether it’s one of the 8’s or as the deepest player.

My only reservation is if he was Hatate’s replacement we lack someone able to carry the ball through the middle of the park, Engels can do it with space in front of him, Miller might have a bit of that about him but not the quickest.

I mentioned on other discussions, I would like either Nygren or Sanches to come in as a really creative, goal threat type centre midfielder/ right wing option. Both are having strong seasons, Nygren is a bit older but can play 8 or either wing and Sanches is either 8 or right wing and both are getting goals. Nygren given his contract would be a bargain.

Celtic target Lennon Miller is wanted by French giants Lyon as the race for his signature intensifies, sources have told Football Insider.

Motherwell star Miller, 18, is regarded as one of the best young prospects to emerge in Scotland in the last decade and interest in the attacking midfielder is sure to be high in this summer’s transfer window.

Lyon are ready to make an offer up to £8million in a bid to beat the likes of Celtic to Miller as they look to persuade Motherwell to cash-in on their prize asset.

The Scottish champions are long-term admirers of Miller and are expected to firm up their interest in the Scotland Under-21 international as they look to keep the player in his homeland

Motherwell have already turned down multiple bids from Italian side Udinese and Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise in January transfer window.

Both clubs are expected to rekindle their pursuit of Miller in the summer, but there is expected to be major competition from a host of top clubs including Lyon and Celtic.

Scotland has produced some top young players in recent years with the likes of Ben Doak, Aaron Hickey and Billy Gilmour all commanding big fees – but Miller is regarded as being potentially even more valuable than those Scotland internationals.

Lyon have scouted Miller on several occasions this season and they see the 18-year-old as of one of best young talents in Europe who they could develop into a potential superstar who will only increase in value.

Motherwell are aware of the growing interest in Miller, but the Lanarkshire club would demand a record transfer fee to sell him this summer.

At just 18, the midfielder has already amassed 67 senior appearances for Motherwell – scoring five goals and providing nine assists.

Doesn't he only have a year left of his contract end of season?

Can Lyon even afford 8m? I thought they were in major financial trouble.

Not up front perhaps not to us.

Installments etc, aye. Will always say that with him, watching his highlights etc and the impact he has had at such a young age, if he were from any other league our fans would be unanimous in this.

Some wanted us to spend £10m on that Toure for example who's the same age playing in Sweden.

Never been big on the "it's cos he's Scottish" argument but I thjnk it's really evident here with some opinions.

They owe £40m don't they and have been threatened with relegation and transfer ban if they don't pay it off this season. If they pay it off I'd see them being very frugal.

Not sure why we haven't tested the waters before now tbh. Maybe we have but it wasn't leaked or reported?

Makes so much sense to sign him especially if Hatate goes in the summer.

8m is heavy but fair play to Motherwell. As a league we need to start pricing our top talents accordingly. Aberdeen have been good at it recently.

At that level tho, it doesn’t price us out but it just means he would need to he considered a priority.

i think Hatate is 100% a goner but for me needs replaced with a starter as you can’t play Bernardo, Engels together. Too similar.

I think the issue is he doesn’t seem to have much pace or mobility. I could be wrong because I can’t say I’ve seen a huge amount of him. Clearly a talent but with a year left on his deal 8m would be mental for us to spend imo unless we really do fancy him and think he can take Hatate’s place.
