He really needs to take his chances when he starts.

I know the majority of the team were pish first hour, but the minute he goes off we look far better.

Needs to prove it wasn't just a purple patch he was on.

 

Has his uses and will score goals but we're just nowhere near as dangerous when he plays instead of Maeda as the 9..

 

Didn’t get a lot of service but Maeda is undoubtedly the better option through the middle

 

I didn't think he was too bad today, but Maeda is 1st choice surely.

 

He's not the "main man" as he put it ....

 

Maeda first choice yes. But I don't think we should have any negativity tonight, because it's all teamwork.
Idah's already paid his transfer fee back, and he will have his uses for still some big games to come up.

I think people are leaning a little too heavily on that comment.

But as I said, aye. Maeda is the better option at present.

 

Going to be an interesting problem in the summer. We still have to sign a new striker, and with Maeda looking so comfortable through the middle he'll very quickly become third choice at this rate

 

Said it before, he's not even as good as Giakoumakis.

His lack of energy is a problem for me.

 

Think you’re overrating Giakoumakis a fair bit there, Idah is comfortably better.

 

Agreed Giakoumakis was a better player.

 

End of the day with the money we have , the dominance in games and chances we create we should have a superstar up front in terms of numbers domestically. Maeda with a full season up top will/would be that, his numbers will be silly. You would hope a new striker would be the same if he's got real pedigree. Idah isn't prolific. As the squad evolves and we look to improve again ,he will find himself down the pecking order.

 

Giakoumakis was an exceptional striker for us, but I dont think we can compare him with Idah, two different types and styles of players.

It's not so long ago we were saying Idah's brace against Bayern was world class.

 

Giakoumakis was an all round excellent striker, absolutely deadly in the box, great hold up and link up play plus could bully defences.

We bought him as the experienced all rounder where as Idah is still young and a lot to improve on. The worrying thing for me is attitude, he needs to give it everything week in week out not just for big games.

 

This isn't the same Giakoumakis who took half a season to get going, missed sitters and couldn't buy a goal against the huns?

He did a job for us but the overrating of him now he's left is wild.

 

I personally thought GG's hold up and link up play was honking. Ball just never seemed to stick with him despite his size and physicality. Idah, while not technically perfect, easily tops him on that imo.
