He's been absolutely spot on about most of our other signings though.

He also works for the Athletic and often does those videos that used to be Tifo Football on YouTube about recommended signings and player profiles with JJ Bull and John (forgot his second name).

The Tilio shout was wrong but he has been accurate with others. Tilio one it just feels like he underestimated the how poor the A League is and also attitude issues which have been suggested about Tilio.

On CCV that’s a big shout right enough but the teams who have been linked with him Atalanta and Leverkusen are clubs who have been excellent at player recruitment so it might be not far off.

Sadly I could see the big man being away this summer of the back of those Bayern games.

Still our most important player if on form for me.

Was brilliant over 180 against Bayern as was trusty. The weekends result doesn't alter that.

He's got plenty credit in the bank.

Aye. See, this is the thing for me about getting a good replacement for Nawrocki: we need to be able to have a reliable backup CB pairing for weekends like this, where we’ve had an exhausting run of fixtures, and/or we’re just off a big midweek game. Imagine having someone in at least as good as Scales, who could come in along with him to pick up domestic duties on games like Saturday’s.

Wasn’t really fair on CCV and Trusty - who both looked absolutely burst - to have to lean on them again today vs a side who played a narrow 3 up top and were intent on pressing the life out of them.

First thing josh Campbell said in his interview was about us being reeling from mid week and they wanted to press us. It was evident.

I agree entirely. It shows the importance of a strong squad.

I think the weekend showed how limited our squad is and the volume of work even before losing one or two in the summer we have to do.

We also have a full team of players who aren’t trusted by the manager on our books with the majority of them needing moved on permanently.

I thought he had a few dodgy moments again last night.

As mentioned I think because of his credit in the bank it gets glossed over but I don't think he's been his normal self domestically this season, at times anyway. The heading it back into the middle of the midfield for noone to pick up is becoming really annoying.

I think a week off would do everyone some good right now.

I think with a week off we’ll start seeing the best out of some of the players. I also noticed CCV holding his ankle a couple times last night

Not really a point about CCV, but must be difficult for top-level players to continually turn it on when the expected result is winning.

Not an expert, but that's one of the things I believe top level athletes need - to be pushed on and in effect threated. Without that standards naturally dip. As you still win anyway.

Probably one of the biggest challenges both players and those who manage them have at our club, standards dropping elsewhere means being number 1 is easier.

Think that's partly why we see our best performances in Europe as it's a different level.

TBR Football can exclusively confirm that Aston Villa, Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace are all in pursuit of one of the best defenders currently playing in the Scottish Premiership.

Aston Villa and Brighton are both pushing for a European finish this season, while Crystal Palace will hope to finish in the top half of the Premier League table

Meanwhile, Everton have turned a corner under David Moyes and look likely to survive the drop ahead of their switch from Goodison Park to Bramley-Moore Dock.

All four clubs could well be exciting propositions in the summer market for a defender who has won nine trophies – including an international accolade – this decade alone

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that a number of Premier League clubs are interested in bringing Celtic star Cameron Carter-Vickers back to England.

The American star has enjoyed a brilliant campaign at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers, playing a starring role in their run to the last 32 of the Champions League.

Carter-Vickers was a target for Ipswich Town in the summer, but they could not strike a deal

Now TBR Football can reveal that there is increasing interest in the 27-year-old.

We understand that Aston Villa, Brighton, Everton and Crystal Palace are amongst the sides to have watched Carter-Vickers in recent months.

It is also believed that Major League Soccer would be open to bringing in Carter-Vickers ahead of his being a key member of their US World Cup squad in 2026

Carter-Vickers joined the Tottenham academy in 2009 aged 11 and was on their books for 13 years as he rose through the academy ranks to reach the fringes of their first team

The United States international spent most of his time at Spurs out on loan, though he did manage to make five competitive appearances for the Lilywhites.

Tottenham sold Carter-Vickers to Celtic in 2022 for a reported £6million fee, where he has gone from strength to strength and continues to be a success.

Brendan Rodgers praised the 27-year-old’s mentality after he scored an own goal in a Champions League meeting with Club Brugge earlier this season.

“Mistakes happen and it was just unfortunate,” Rodgers was quoted as saying by the Independent

He’s played that pass a million times and it’s gone back and then we’ve been able to play forward. It was just one of those unfortunate moments in the game that happens.

“But he’s a really, really tough character. He’s a great guy, he picked himself up.

He was really strong and aggressive again in the game and got on with it and had a real bravery in the second half, because he was the one carrying the ball forward for us to start the attack.”

Carter-Vickers has three Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups to his name, all of which have come in the 2020s.

In addition, the USMNT defender has won 18 caps for his nation, played at the 2022 World Cup, and lifted the CONCACAF Nations League last year.

With Celtic 16 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, it looks like Carter-Vickers could soon be lifting his 10th trophy of the decade in the coming months.

You'd hope teams don't take the risk because he's small and not really that quick.

Also fairly injury prone maybe due to being smaller and bulky/heavy which might put teams off also. When you think if he was chasing big athletes and * with great pace week in week out he might get injured more as he does cruise through games for us untested a lot.

He might be a player who is "stuck" here, as teams like Brighton, Newcastle etc can really sign anyone and may go for more athletic type players. Then teams like Crystal Palace and Everton who he'd probably be good for, might think they need big defenders who score more or are more dominant in the air.
