Daizen Maeda

The thing for me is he can do both and be effective, especially when the winger role is like an inside forward, just like his last goal tonight.

What he is better at up top is receiving the ball, outwide it kills attacks if he doesn’t have a simple little lay off or can’t go in behind. You notice it more having Jota back now who is so comfortable receiving the ball and going at his man or coming inside and spraying the ball about.

I actually think if you had Maeda up top see if you had a fairly big number 10 type, like a Rogic build playing off him and two deep lying midfielders it be some system. Maeda constantly stretching the backline in behind and pressing which would create space for a good on the ball type 10 to be able to drop off and pick up space. If they were big you could then hit them directly.

Either that or I think he would actually make some striker in a 2 up top formation as well, similarly with a clever, physical strike partner.

 

The thought of him leaving in the summer fills me with dread. He causes the opposition so many issues with his press and non stop running. Great to see him adding so many goals to his game now.

Ran out of superlatives for him. Incredible consistency and cannot believe how effective he is every single game just now. Need to go all out to keep him here next season.

Don't think before this season you'd guess he'd score 25 goals. He'll probably hit 30 atleast now. Need to tie him down.

 

He’s an incredible player. Mentioned it a few days ago but I think he might be a better striker than Kyogo. He has over double Kyogo’s tally for the season now and he’s only been gone a few short weeks.

Wouldn’t sell him for any less than a record Scottish fee.

 

I mind not long after Rodgers came back, he spoke about Maeda. I remember him saying "we can certainly help him add more goals to his game".

He’s found his composure in the final 3rd this season and looking every bit of a top class striker. Hope we can hold onto him cause a lot of teams will be looking at him.
