You’d want at the very least your money back on big Gus.

It is no longer a secret that FC Twente would love to continue with Gustaf Lagerbielke . The Swede is currently on loan from Celtic , but FC Twente has not included an option to buy in the contract. Technical director Arnold Bruggink has made the Twente interest known by means of an initial offer, but this was immediately rejected. However, a third party is still needed to reach a deal. The two-time Swedish international must also be keen on a longer period at FC Twente. He also seems to be positive about the match

I'll wait and see. Everything is still open. In football, it's not always the player himself who can make decisions. But I'm happy here and the club is great for me. I enjoy playing here, the family feeling, the atmosphere in De Grolsch Veste. Last week, the supporters pushed us forward again. In the second half, you could feel how the Bodo/Glimt players were getting intimidated. Against Besiktas, the stadium came to a boiling point. The noise that evening was sometimes comparable to the Old Firm.

It doesn't seem to be Lagerbielke's fault. But what has Celtic communicated since the start of his loan period at FC Twente? "I don't hear much from Celtic, they probably have other things on their minds. Me too. I'm concentrating on Twente", is the short and businesslike response from the Swede in an interview with Geert-Jan Jakobs of Voetbal International . It has now become clear via the media that Celtic wants to make money from Lagerbielke next summer. He also has a special mission himself and that could turn out to be in FC Twente's favor.

    Special mission Lagerbielke
"A big goal for me is to play the World Cup with Sweden next year. I was in the selection last time, but the competition is big. If I continue to play well here, I will also get my chances in the national team. I choose my route very consciously. You become wiser from every transition. I think I have lived in six cities in the last six years. You learn a lot from that, living in different places. That is also a driving force for me as a professional footballer: I want to discover new environments, see something of the world, get to know other cultures."

"I like Enschede very much. Everything works, the people are open and friendly. They speak good English. I could also go back to Sweden in the summer, but I was far from done abroad. I still want to see so much. That's the great thing about the new European format. Many matches, many opponents. I'm looking forward to the trip to Bodo. Hopefully we can still see the Northern Lights there. But the most important thing is that we get through a round, of course.

Makes it more and more obvious how much mentality is a factor in being a Celtic player.

Bernabei, Barkas, Lagerbielke have all shown up well at other clubs yet just didn't have the testicular fortitude to make it here.

I don't think mentality is an issue with Lagerbielke tbf, I mean he was thrown into a makeshift side that won at Ibrox and was arguably MotM. Likewise, he did well in the CL for us too, even scoring the winner against Feyenoord.

He just doesn't have the pace needed for a team who's CBs spend a lot of their time closer to the halfway line. Glad he's doing well.
