Shows the board what we can do buying a few more 11 mill players than loads of “ projects”

Only if it's the RIGHT big buys... I actually agree with them not making that kind of spending the norm, and that there's genuinely great talent out there in the £6-9M range that we could really use - 3 players at about £8M each versus 2 at £12M could make a huge difference to us. But if it's the right 2 at £12M each we also need to stop * around and losing them...

We've earned enough credit in the bank to risk a little without too much inherent danger, but not enough to be gung-ho, like some Wall Street broker in a titty bar...

So proud of our team. I think this photo sums up how we all feel today.

Really * hard where to pick out we could improve player wise that would have changed that result.

Even having Kyogo would be at the detriment to one of Jota, Maeda or Kuhn last night.

There is an argument perhaps to be had that if we could find a Schlupp-esq type and build as well as the man hinself. Who can sit a bit deeper in a CDM role, we'd have better rotation of guys like Hatate.

People been commenting on our lack of subs, but it is the only criticism I could levy at Rodgers was not utilising McGowan.

But * Bayern and * the corrupt officials reffing the game, * * the lot of them. Reminds me of the * * we had to go through when playing Juve. * *.

You just knew that they were going to give the excuse that Maeda foul was a different phase of play but no VAR.

I personally think that’s bollocks, firstly the ref or Linesman should spot something has happened off the ball.

If they missed the incident they should have stopped the game based on a head injury, the player is down holding that part of his body.

For me we have seen a very low bar for a red card in the CL and whether Upemecano means to hit him in the face or not he, recklessly throws an arm across the player in a panic he is getting in behind him. I believe that merits a VAR review for serious foul play given where he is on the park, the ball is not at them so other than fouling the attacker what do they think the defender is doing?

It’s not just that, fundamentally our left winger is not able to take part in defending an attack due to a foul to the face with an arm off the ball, that comes down our left hand side. Failure of the ref to spot a foul, spot a head injury and the VAR team to recommend a VAR review has put us out the CL and denied us a last minute free kick in a dangerous position.

It is very poor how this is being portrayed after the game too as it happened to one of the smaller teams from a lesser league if that was an EPL team or one of the big two in Spain or we scored that sort of goal vs Bayern the referee and VAR would be branded a disgrace.

To be honest the Maeda foul was indeed a different phase of play so VAR would never intervene. It was the ref who bottled it. Should have stopped play there and then. Maeda also could’ve forced the situation by staying down.

In both legs we were cheated by the ref. We should have gotten a pen in the first leg and that attack should’ve never happened. Should be us in the draw for the last 16. Hope the club points this out to UEFA

Hatate was brilliant and shows all the doubters how much he cares, hope he stays, we really do need him… by the way the show of emotion, no doubt Aiden McGeady thinks hes gay or unmanly …. no doubt Aiden McGeady needs psychiatric help

    Eh

Well....it did end up in another country.

Some strange obscure team called Bayern Munich won it 3 years in a row 74', 75', 76'

A very minor point, but fair play to Alan Shearer who, at the end of the first half, interrupted the commentator running off the stats to point out that it was us who'd had the three best chances.

Thought Shearer was very complimentary of us considering we called him a * for years on end :giggle1:

Must still be grateful we let him score in his testimonial.

Thats the very least our performance deserved last night was another 30 minutes and a shot at extra time. Proud of the team obviously but the manner of that goal is hard to take.

Hatates biggest problem is his mentality. Gets in his head too much and you can see that....he puts more pressure...too much pressure on himself.

Honestly mate, we've just had one of our best away performances in Europe, probably in modern times. It's no easy to put a negative spin on it, but you managed it.

what do you find negative about looking at the reasons why we didn't turn a draw into a win?
