We are an insanely better team when we have a proper , physical beast at LB. He's a weak link if we are being objective . Good that he moves on .

I won't criticise him bcoz he's been a pretty solid player domestically but tonight we seen what is required at this level..he just doesn't have that ability.

Fullback position is so important in todays game, imperative we have quality in that area, it's been neglected for too long.

Our two best defensive displays in the CL, in arguably our two most difficult away fixtures, came when Taylor didn’t play.

And still people will try to say he isn’t a weak link and that he was “unlucky” last week. Wonder why Rodgers dropped him then :39:

Tbf I don't remember the last time anyone suggested he isn't the weak link.

Some said he had a good game last week so clearly aren’t able to see it.

He can have good games tbf.

Doesn't mean that people think he has any future here as first choice left back.

He's 100% the easiest position to improve on and has been for years.

Tierney will blow him out the water but won't play anywhere near as much as we need him to. Schlupp looks like a far superior option already and if he keeps it up, replacing Taylor with Tierney and Schlupp is a massive upgrade in quality and in depth down the left side of our defence.

People have been screaming that we should be upgrading Taylor for years and I don't think his good appearances, which he has had, is enough to change that opinion. It looks like we're finally doing it.

Schlupp's performances have put the whole Taylor saga into context.

He's been an important player for us at times but to some extent that's because he's never had any real competition in that position.

The fact that a 32yo loanee who's had about 180 minutes of game time all season and rarely is played at LB anymore was able to come in and immediately raise our level there speaks volumes.

We've clearly made every effort to keep Taylor here but if we were in any kind of title race, his time would have been up when Rodgers came in. He's been a useful player for adding to our attacking threat and helping us overwhelm teams, but his actual ability to defend has never been at the level required.

Ultimately it's for the best that he moves on.

Unsure on this. It's not like we've ignored left back as a position in most windows.

We've tried to oust him before - Valle, Bernabei, Bolingoli, Hayes, Laxalt, Schlupp. That's the guts of over £8m in transfer fees, excluding loan fees.

It's not that we haven't tried (although in some windows that is true), we've just done a very, very bad job of it.

I think Taylor would be a great left back behind Tierney if he was to stay. However, Schlupp has now thrown his name into the hat and looks to be a far better option to support Tierney.

I think everybody would have Schlupp over Taylor now. Both need new deals but realistically, we're only going to keep one and it looks like an easy option right now.

I think many fans have forgotten that Shlupp is on £60k a week and is out of contract. That means we won't pay a fee for him but he will want a massive wage if we sign him permanently. Given he will be behind Tierney do we want a back up player to be one of the highest paid players in the team? I don't think he will be signing on for £15k a week.

I can see him doing a good job for us till the end of the season and signing up for a championship side in the summer.

Been a great servant and wish him all the best, but we need to move on at the end of the season.

Tierney and try to get Schlupp on a longer deal would be a massive upgrade.

No one's paying 60k pw for a 32yo LB who can't get a game at Palace. He'd be lucky to get half that at the Championship or anywhere else. He might still be asking more than what we'd pay but I'd say if we try our luck at £20k pw on a 2-year deal, he might just go for it.

It's actually starting to get a bit embarrassing just how far below the level he is.

    Been * atrocious again today

Lucky to still be on the park. If that challenge was against Celtic we would be screaming for a red card.
