Never going to be optimistic away in Europe and the fact its Bayern. Avoid an absolute drubbing would be nice.

There is a chance we give an Atalanta away kind of performance, keep it 0-0 right towards the end sneak a goal to take it to extra time then you never know? I dunno, still feels very wishful.

Their first goal at Parkhead just shows they can pull the sublime out the hat at any moment

Being realistic here I think we will do well to get away without a drubbing. A 2-0 or something would be respectable. The team probably picks itself again with it as you were from last week. That's maybe tough on Jota but I wouldn't be starting him as I dont think he is truly up to speed yet. Who knows maybe a famous night awaits. Closer to game time I will probably become more optimistic as I lose the run of myself. Then 2 goals down in 20 minutes soon puts that out of me.

Obviously not expecting anything from this but I do think being 2-1 down suits us more than going into it with something to hang onto.

Just want to see another mature performance and keeping the game / tie competitive.

I’d start Schlupp but I’d also start Idah, it’s just a touch too soon for Jota to be starting in Munich IMO.

Idah showed down south how dangerous he can be at Villa Park, he’s capable of a big performance like that in Germany.

We are a completely different animal with Maeda through the middle. The game shifted in our favour when Jota replaced Idah. Fully expect Maeda to start at ST. Obviously, Bayern are heavy favorites, but stranger things have happened.

Maeda was excellent on the wing and through the middle, he can do damage from either position. Jota was ineffective.

The game shifted when the team took the momentum from the crowd after the Engels pen sham.

Agree to disagree, but it doesn't matter what we think. BR said he has already made up his mind regarding the starting 11. If he were planning to start Idah, I highly doubt he would have kept him on the pitch for 85 mins yesterday. Maeda and Kuhn were rested. Jota was replaced early in the 2nd half. I fully expect those 3 to start up front on Tuesday.

Can’t shake a feeling of us winning the game by a goal; into extra-time, and then who knows how the overall tie will finish.

Aye, this for me too. Hatate slightly deeper than the rest of the AM line, maybe.

That would be a remarkable achievement if that came to pass I would certainly take that scenario. However IMHO we will do well just to make the game a competitive contest.

I like Idah and he's coming into form so it's a bit harsh on him but for me Maeda has to start through the middle.

We have to realise that we have a player with an elite level ability when it comes to pressing the opposition and maximise that to it's full effect.

Bayern are use to dominating possession and building from the back, we saw what can happen when they get knocked out of that rhythm. Not even a team like Bayern who play at the highest level regularly will have came up against many like Maeda.

Let Daizan go press and harry their cbs and keeper and then rest of the team need to be alert to mistakes, misplaced passed etc caused by his work and look to capitalise on it.

I've said this before when I thought he was suspended. It doesn't matter how much experience you have, how good your coaching is or how much the club signed you for. Maeda playing against you will cause you problems.

That speed alone causes problems. But it's also his utter relentless attitude. He will harass you all game as a defender. From minute 1 to 97. He'll run at you full pelt all game. One mistake or give him half a yard on you and there's nothing you can do to stop him.

The Miracle in Munich, it has already been written, Brendan was never gonna allow a rookie in Kompany to progress past us

Haha I really like that… the “Miracle in Munich” it shall be known as.

PS. If Maeda is the catalyst, then it could also be known as “Madea in Munich” :giggle1:

Jota needs games not rest, it’ll take time for him to be fully match fit. Naturally.
