RTE2 mate. I usually check any other channels showing games rather than Sky or BT, sometimes get games on there or US channels. CBS coverage is quite mental though, they come out with some madness, but I at least find them less biased or annoying than some of the ones on the main channels.

The ref brown nosed Bayern all night. It made such a material difference to the final result I feel.
Need to score the first goal in Germany, to have a realistic chance, otherwise the hard way, and try and force it to extra time.

Was crazy how wide they spread us in the first half, practically man for man at that stage and I think we adapted well defensively. The goal right before half time was a sore one and had we gone into the break at nil nil i reckon Brendan would have been in a much better position to set us up for a possible win.

second half Bayern seemed to step off as though they were giving us half a chance. I’m gutted at the second goal conceded tbh. Thierry Henry asked Kane “were you surprised that you were given the space unmarked” which says it all for me. At this level you cannot settle for being underdogs therefore liable to make mistakes, it’s not good enough and you get punished for it.

On the plus side this is where we are at and it’s where we belong. If we played teams like this every week our squad would be a super power and the experience they gain from European games is really important for their development. They can hold their heads high now and look at possibly getting a result over there, obviously unlikely but not impossible

The place was absolutely rocking after that goal after 25 seconds or whatever it was. Wish that stood cause it could have been such a different game.

Seen the replay of the penalty incident and yes he wins the ball but I still think the contact after should have been warranted a penalty, the VAR panel obviously thought so too.

Having watched the game back, the succession of bizarre corner/goal kick decisions given against us actually contributed to the opening goal.

Although the opener doesn’t come from that directly, the pile on of momentum is absolutely crucial at this level, particularly against a decisive team.

I don't think 2-1 was a fair reflection of the actual game itself. I know Schemeichel made some good saves, but you would expect him to make them, but the clear denial of the penalty and the disallowed goal, makes me feel we deserved a draw at the least. I think Bayern did a smash and grab on us, aided and abetted by the Spanish referee and his officials.

From the point of the disallowed goal to the point Bayern went 2-0 up they had near total domination. Thats the concern for me. We struggled to get out of our half and couldnt create anything. We came into the game and finished strongly, but only really after Bayern had got a comfortable lead and began to sit off more. I think when we are given time and space, we look like we can hurt most teams and can play good stuff. But equally, when time and space is denied to us we also can look very average. Bayern knew exactly how to stifle us by marking McGregor out of the game and recognising our defence werent strong enough on the pall then to be able pass out. Rangers have done something similar to us in the last couple of old firms to their advantage as well.

They dominated but didn't do THAT much with it.

Leipzig arguably had more clear cut chances against us. As we played a bit more open, that's my concern with folk wanting us to go all out.

We set up correctly. Kept Kane pretty quiet and poor marking * it on that front. They didn't carve us open time and time again as has often been the case in the past and it wasn't often like an NBA basketball game either, again, something we've seen in the past.

I'm happy for us to play like that against sides of that quality. Maybe not be AS passive but it's certainly the right approach and will keep us in games longer and allow for them not to run away from us early doors.

We have been far too naive at this level over the years. When you are playing against a side of that level you can't be that surprised at not dominating and being unable to get out your half for a while. That's just the reality. We do it to teams domestically every week.

Exactly mate. The same people saying “look at the last 25 mins we did so much better when we just opened up and attacked them a bit” would be the very same people saying we should’ve been more pragmatic away to Dortmund.

You could also argue that we were only able to approach the last 20 mins that way because of Bayern changing their approach and sitting off.

First half they strangled us for the most part. It's really not as simple as people think otherwise we'd compete every season and Bayern would lose a lot more games. Both things that don't happen for a reason!

That’s a very interesting stat, our 43% possession is the most anyone has had against them, that includes teams like Dortmund, PSG, etc. Pretty impressive actually!

Also they had 10 shots to our 9.
When you compare that to their Feyenoord game, they had 30 shots while Feyenoord had 3 shots on target and won 3-0.

We just never seem to get that bit of luck we need in these big games!
Goal disallowed, penalty denied, corners given against us, not getting corners we should have, Olise getting the deflection off Taylor, etc.
We just needed for one of those to go our way!

Think they genuinely sat off and didn’t put us to the sword out of respect.

you hear all the noise pre match and that’s all kompany, muller, etc. were talking about. Seems they knew they’d get a result and just kept it tight and at 2-0 (granted we were brilliant second half) but bayern didn’t even press us. allowed us chance to play our football.

think second leg they play the same, get a 1-2 goal lead and just play us on the counter with a fast front line

They are a great club with much respect to the game but i highly, highly doubt that. It's the most important competition in the world and their highlight of the season. They would never ever risk that with only 1 goal ahead.

On the game and performance i am very pleased. What i wanted was us to show that we can go head to head with the best in the world and we did that. I would say that we deserved at least a draw from that game, and it was Bayern Munich we are talking about. If we got lets say Aston Villa/Atalanta/Sporting class opposition we would have won that game and that is the level i want us to be at realisticly.

We are currently at the "Ajax level"both performance wise and recruiting wise.

The best teams are the best teams for a reason. They’re ruthless and they have killer instinct. To suggest Bayern went easy on us out of respect is arguably the biggest load of nonsense I’ve read on here this year and massively disrespectful to the effort put in by our boys.

Before the match we should have contacted Pierluigi Collina to referee the match.
Only ref from either Italy, Spain or Portugal I would trust to ref our games fairly.

So did Michael Ballack, and he's a German.

" German legend Michael Ballack believes Celtic were denied a clear penalty against his former club Bayern in the second half of their first leg. (Scottish Sun) "
