I thought he did OK, but he simply doesn't give you what Maeda does. Not many do. It was clear we looked more dangerous after the switch.

Maeda gave us more and allowed us to get in their face a lot more
We don't get that last 15-20min fight if Idah was on.

But that's because of the style difference, not because idah was poor.

Think he done well. He read the game well and showed good strength. When Engels or Hatate got forward too much, he was happy to drop back and cover the spaces needed.
He's working well with the squad.

Hes great against teams where we have the ball. However meada is just world class imo. Utter top level, so I can't blame him for not being at that level yet. Still he had some very nice lay offs. If he just stayed onside man the game would have been so different.

I....just can't take to Idah at all.

Zero energy from the big man. Hatate was pressing for him most of the first half.

I thought be was ok but there was a chance in the first half where Engels cut it back to him and he didn’t show anywhere near enough desire to get into the box.

I’d probably start Maeda centrally next week.

Tough to judge him too harshly on 60 odd minutes where we barely got a touch of the ball and he was feeding off literal scraps. Maeda through the middle is probably the better option for the time being though, and I think signing Jota over another striker means Rodgers thinks the same.

Lived off scraps, held it up as best he could.

Won us 2 corners we didn't get..

Thought he did quite well holding the ball up, he'll definitely learn from this campaign..

Would start Maeda through the middle on Tuesday tho

Some of my mates making a thing about the time and manners of his exit, but I think he did alright with nothing but crumbs and against fresh-legged opponents. Was never gonna be easy for the 1st choice striker.

On another note, kinda glad he came off when he did, as hopefully he'll be fully fresh for the weekend and we can rest Maeda onto the bench, with Jota starting. Want everyone fresh and properly rested as the return leg is coming so quickly

Big man is decent. Pretty much all our players struggled against them last night. The two goals at Villa, which is a high level showed what he was capable of. Think Maeda through the middle would have been a better plan with Bayerns high line, but Idah is and will be fine

That looked a great pull back from Engels at the time.

I thought Idah did ok. I think regardless of the change up from we’d have gone for it a bit more anyway. But Maeda for me from the start next week.

Doesn't really do enough. For a big fella he doesn't hold the ball up well. Decision making at times is poor, too many flicks etc. Doesnt use his pace and rarely moves the defenders about. He wasn't awful on Wed but we all seen the difference when Maeda went up front and worked the Bayern defenders.

    More needed.

Celtic striker Adam Idah believes they have shown they can go “toe to toe” with Europe’s top teams as he stressed it was all to play for against Bayern Munich.

Celtic lost 2-1 against the German side at home on Wednesday but Daizen Maeda’s late goal has kept the Champions League play-off alive ahead of next Tuesday’s second leg in the Allianz Arena.

Bayern dominated possession before taking command with goals either side of half-time but Celtic were otherwise solid and found their attacking rhythm later in the match.

Idah said: “We knew it was going to be tough, they’re obviously a top team, one of the best in the world, but I thought we put up a good fight. We’re still in this tie and it’s a big one on Tuesday

“I think it’s just having that confidence and belief going into these big games, that we can go toe-to-toe with the big teams. It’s just going out and actually doing it and proving it.

“The last 15-20 minutes was really good and all the fans backed us. Everyone’s looking forward to Tuesday. We’re still in it and we’re looking forward to it.”

Celtic at least have a chance to show how much they have progressed since losing 7-1 to Borussia Dortmund on matchday two. Clean sheets away to Atalanta and Dinamo Zagreb have already indicated they have learnt how to deal with difficult periods in games.

Idah said: “I think we’re a top team as well and we can prove to ourselves that we can play at that level. I think we’ve learnt a lot from the games previously, from the likes of the Dortmund game. You can’t switch off at any minute.

“You have to be on it all the time and that’s something we’ve learnt. I think you could tell that by the game on Wednesday night. Even though we didn’t probably have as much as the ball, it’s about the other side of the game, being defensive, staying compact. We’ve done that really well.

“From the Atalanta game, I think that was probably the first game we’ve had where we did have to sit back and be compact and not have as much of the ball.

We took a lot from that game, understanding and realising that you won’t have a lot of the ball in these European games.”

Celtic might be heading to Germany in a better position had two major decisions not gone against them.

A second-half penalty claim was turned down following a VAR review after Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano stood on Arne Engels’ foot.

Celtic were also denied a goal inside 28 seconds when Idah was flagged offside after Nicolas Kuhn’s shot beat Manuel Neuer.

“It was a bit of a mad one,” the Republic of Ireland international said. “It was an unbelievable start. These things happen in football. I still don’t know myself, is it interfering with Neuer or not?”

Celtic first host Dundee United in the William Hill Premiership, where they have the chance to go 16 points clear of Rangers, for 24 hours at least.

Idah said: “At the start of the season I found it quite tough going from Champions League back to playing league games. But I think having the experienced boys in the group really helps. Cal (McGregor), Greg (Taylor), Jamesy (Forrest), they kind of help you get through it.

It’s the same goal with every game. We want to win games and we want to go out and perform well

I feel like there will always be a decent chunk of our fans who will always see him as “overpriced Norwich backup”

He was unreal last season and he’s been sensational ever since Kyogo left. Quality goal today delighted for him.

Didn't think he was up to much but that goal was a beauty.

Brilliant goal, I felt like we weren't finding him enough throughout the game.
