Absolutely, just rotate Idah, Jota and Kuhn, Maeda the machine can keep running full time, no rest required.

I know it's practically heresy to say, but when he's playing 90 mins every 3 or 4 days, he does lose a little energy after a while. He got a break for the Villa game and he's back to his best. He's an incredible physical specimen, but he does have limits.

Aye I know, was just playing up to his incredible ability to keep running. I agree it was partly a rest and he was probably told he owes his team.

Really don't think we will have another player like him again. He's so unique. Priceless

Celtic’s Alistair Johnston has said teammate Daizen Maeda is one of the most in-form players in Europe – and has admitted he will be a huge miss in the club’s Champions League play-off tie against Bayern Munich.

After a Scottish Cup hat-trick against Raith Rovers, the Japan international has scored ten goals in his last ten appearances—and he is suspended for the first leg against Bayern.

The winger was sent off late in the 1-0 win over Young Boys, with Maeda dismissed for kicking out at Mohamed Ali Camara.

Fullback Johnston admits it’s going to be a huge miss but is confident someone else can “step up”.

“Yeah, I mean, for crying out loud, he scored. I’m not sure what his stats are, but he’s got to be one of the most in-form players in all of Europe right now, and he can’t seem to miss right now”, he said.

“So yeah, again, when he’s scoring and creating, he adds just another dimension, but also everyone knows his work rate is unbelievable. He’s a nightmare as a fullback to go up against and I get the joy of having him running after me throughout the week most of the time.

“It’s a bummer for us, but at the same time, that’s why we brought in guys like Jota. You know, it’s to have that quality that between all of our wingers, that entire group.

So that here is enough quality and depth that when something like that does happen, the suspension, that other guys can step up. So yeah, I think right now between Jota, Yang, and Nicolas Kuhn, like, we’re still really happy with where we are at in terms of our depth and our talent there.

“It’s a great opportunity for one of those guys to step up, and I’m expecting that someone will in the coming days.”

He might score 40-50 a season if he played through the middle.

I've always said he only really scores strikers goals although he does it from playing wide, if he was in the box double the amount he'd surely score even more. Even just the statistics of when he plays through the middle, he seems to score doubles and hat-tricks every time.

Could be the best since Larsson but we've just not let him.

It's hard to say, the middle tends to be well occupied, he gets alot of joy with runs in behind the full back which is a winger role.

He does score in the middle, undoubtedly but I think his best movements are backpost ones

Hard to say unless he got a good run there.

But imagine all the tap ins he'd get onto or all the loose balls he'd pounce on or the times he'd run in behind 1 on 1 and stuff that he doesn't get that many chances to score now. Even closing down centre-backs and the keeper. Headers as well, he's pretty good in the air, better than Kyogo.

As his movement has always been great as well, even though everyone says Kyogos was world class, Maeda is also near enough the same just we don't notice it as much as he's not in or around the box a lot where it is as noticable and he's even faster and probably more on the move.

If he scored like every 2.5 games from the wing, he might score every 1.5 from through the middle. His current record when you think of it, say he's played through the middle in 7 games or parts of games he's probably scored about 10 goals.

He'd probably win a lot of penalties as well, being that quick and alert, he'd likely get decked all the time in the box cutting across people onto cutbacks and stuff.

His ban has been overturned and he’s free to play on Wednesday night.

We’re winning the whole * thing.
