Words cannot convey how much of a loss he is for the Bayern match.

Said it a while ago he'd score plenty if he played through the middle more often, he looks much more composed than Kyogo this season, but even in previous seasons his workrate and speed alone would have ended up with him bundling in a load of scrappy balls across the box that others don't quite get to.

I think it takes that to even get us to the table 21 goals and 8 assists. Keeps going as he is your looking at 30 goals and 10 assists in the season minimum. 40 goal contributions from a single player before you start to think about all his off the ball effort is insane.

He's the one player that's worth more to us on the pitch than a record fee, a workrate higher than a prime Broony with goals and assists on top, I don't know how you replace his contribution. I'm never one to get dramatic about players leaving and being irreplaceable because we always do, someone always comes in and scores more goals, gets more assists, we replace the numbers.

But I genuinely don't see how we replace Maeda's all round contribution if he leaves, get him on a massive new contract.

I fear his ban will be really noticeable v Bayern, this guy’s just so vital…if anything it’ll just make him more eager to prove a point next game.

Seriously what a * player he is now, the difference in him this season is hard to comprehend.

Now really starting to worry about keeping ahold of him, most important player in our team bar McGregor. Absolutely adore the guy, i’d love if he got another new deal to tie him down.

I might be wrong but I think not only is he happy here but family also...doesn't happen often like henrik, lustig, broony etc but maybe with Jota and KT coming back show this is where he belongs

What a player he is turning out to be. He gets better and better with time.

Raging about that stupid kick out on the Young Boys player that got him banned.
It doesn't matter how good Bayern's defence is, Maeda would have caused them problems.... he couldn't not with that speed and workrate and his recent form.

What an improvement he has been since the season he arrived.... missing glaring chances.... like that one against Real Madrid.... I don't think he would miss that now. If he can be as clinical as that with his finishing and keep improving the way he has been then he could end up an even superior striker to Kyogo at centre forward. He is quicker and more involved. The timing of his runs has improved a great deal. But most importantly he's scoring and not missing now.
He might keep Idah out the team playing in that position. He is our top goalscorer after all.

A new deal wouldn't tie him down. If would just ensure that we can demand an even bigger fee for him if the big clubs come sniffing around.

I would be disappointed if he left for another Rennes type club. Cause he's worth so much more. He'd cause chaos in the English Premier league.
I hope we get zero interest from anybody and that he stays for years yet. I hope he's 40 and still buzzing about Celtic Park like a man possessed

Well it puts in perspective... that's Daizen Maeda breached the 50 goal mark for us... If you consider that he arrived in the January of his first year.... that's just over 3 years.

Henrik scored 52 in one season... 2000/2001

There's not enough years left in Maeda's career to get close to Henrik's number of goals

You’re right actually but its a good deterrent. Its a matter of time really if he keeps it up but I’m surprised theres been no interest already for his pressing alone in this day and age. I don’t think he is technically good enough for the PL personally, Germany would be perfect if he did move on. They seem to almost play for transitions over there.

Have to say hes grown into one of my favourite ever players which is crazy if you look back at my posts from this time last year.

It comes down to what players want which annoys me when read comments from Dembele, Edourde, wanyama etc saying best years with us after leaving for crappy teams...Daiz is happy and honestly think be here at least next cpl years...

The thing that I take solace from is the fact these days, if theres a transfer link, generally there’s interest from the player side first.

I think he’s happy here but that may be because i would hand him a 20 year deal.
