Aye, but USG are one of Brighton’s feeder/partner clubs, so I wonder how much this signing will have been data-driven. Probably more like just a shrewd use of contacts.

They all use the same system so I think it would be I think signings will come into hearts if they are good move onto usg then from their Brighton and likewise if player from usg can’t break into usg side they will move to hearts

USG use the same system but no longer have Bloom involved with the club. He bought a minority stake but has either decreased it further or sold it all now.

USG are very good at recruiting undervalued players and making them a success in Belgium before selling them on for good money.

I suspect there will be some linkages or if they use the same analytics, there may be some tie in but alternatively how cheap USG pick up players there might be competition there too.

Bloom had to sell a chunk of stake because of the uefa competition rules and Brighton getting into Europe it will be one of his patsys that owns the stake

A player I think we should be looking at to come in during the summer, particularly if Hatate was to move on, is Benjamin Nygren, who is out of contract at Nordsjaelland and the end of the season.

He was once hailed as a wonder kid when he left Gothenburg at 18 for Genk, that move never really worked out and he went to Nordsjaelland a couple of years ago where he has found good form particularly this year with 6 goals and 2 assists in 18 games.

He is a very strong player technically with a cracking left foot, and plays largely either as an attacking midfielder (similar to O’Riley used to) or can play off either wing too. He is still only 23 and has a bit more pace than O’Riley but not as strong at ball winning, however I do see similarities on the ball to O’Riley as Nygren has a similar build, good vision and is a good striker of the ball off the left foot, he also makes good runs to attack the box.

You would like to think he would be available for a cut price fee given he would only have 6 months left on his deal. I think he would be the type of talent that Rodgers would be able to unlock his full potential.

One of his real standout performances was against Fenerbache in the Conference League last year where he came on at half time and scored a hat trick of 3 very good goals.
