Last January was poor in that we didn't get a left back in, that was murder. Again though, anyone thinking we just didn't bother our * trying is just looking for drama.

I'm always of the opinion that any player we bring in has talent and deserves the chance to turn that into good performances under the pressure here. Never a guarantee but first and foremost I back them until it's clear they will never work.

That Mark Lawwell period imo was a genuine attempt at building a recruitment structure. It never worked out, most of the players he brought in failed and he subsequently lost his job. Like I said yesterday, it's tough at the top. We move forward and go again.

I think it's shows a lack of ambition even a lack of professionalism. Are we not meant to be aspiring to regularly competing at this level in Europe?

If so.. then you have to act like a big team. Not the the loss of Kyogo....but the lack of replacement is the unprofessional part. We are going into the Bayern game less capable of beating them than we were in December.
That's how I'm looking at it

This is something I'm probably concerned about.

It's a must that we keep this squad together till that qualifier is done. I'd like to think Hatate is maybe the only one we lose. Hopefully.

Otherwise it's just a case of more work being needed

Rodgers had issues with that window as well though, remember. He gave a similar interview last year which alluded to us needing to be "braver" in the market.

We eventually followed it up with good investment in the summer.

We need to do that again. And we also need to get away from our manager having to make public soundbites about it. The board should hopefully see the benefits it brings not only on the park but in the mood of their manager and the support.

Well luckily the summer window is a better bet for bringing in quality. And we have a top manager who will expect to be backed and will be by a board that also want success.

We're playing the long game mate, and it's working a treat.

If a CL-level club want Kühn or Hatate and they play in a qualifier for us, can they play in the CL proper for them or would they be cup-tied?

Yes but I also doesn't help thst we are very proud of our bank balance and tell everyone....there's AGMs that tell everyone how much profit we've made.
Brondby also know how much money we're getting for reaching next stage of Champions League. It's common knowledge

    Price depends on who's buying
If Real Madrid wanted that Kvistgaarden they'd be getting quoted a higher price than that one.
    It's what happens

I would be worried that Brendan would be so * off with this that he'd jump ship again. But I dont think he will. He's on very good wages and knows where his bread is buttered.

If he does though. It wouldnt surprise me if we just start getting our managers on loan deals. That'll be the next thing

I’d have liked him to stay beyond the 3 years but I doubt that will be on the table for either side, right now.

You simply cannot sell your best striker and not replace him with someone. Especially when you consider the fees you’ve brought in, during the month. We’ve made a profit in every single window since Rodgers returned, while maintaining vast amount of millions in the bank.

The club are financially prudent and always have been. However, when there is glaring holes in the squad that need addressed, you’re playing with absolute fire. If Rangers were 5 points behind us in the league, we would have signed a striker.

Want to wait for Kvistgaarden until the summer? Fine. Bring in a 6 month loan. There was plenty of strikers on the move in January we could have brought in for half a season. The club run themselves well, in what they do financially, sponsorships, merchandising etc. All excellent. Their management of the footballing department is incompetent and has been for about a decade.

We need a proper DoF and have needed one for years. Until that issue gets resolved, we are on a looped system of this every window.

    Youre wrong mate.

We the fans aspire to compete at this level. The manager and players do too. But not Desmond and his puppets.

Lawwell has already stated "we arent going to make the CL every year".

That wasnt a practical statement. It was a statement of intent.
In order to keep Rodgers happy theyve lifted the transfer ceiling, slightly. But the wage cap remains the same.

We have no discernable scouting network, exclusively employed by the club and sent out on assignments to find players. Which we should have at this level.

Weve got a geriatric down south whose lights flicker when the landline rings, and * in a stupid hat on a laptop, sifting through the FIFA game database at lennoxtown.

Hence no replacement for Kyogo, and resigning Jota and Tierney.
Mind the time Lennon's targets were scribbled on a notepad and fired into the bin?
    Nothings changed.

You can tell he’s absolutely done with the excuses. He’s going through the motions trying to keep the messages positive.

Whatever way you look at it, we’ve probably got the best manager we could possibly hope to attain in our dugout, and we’re once again gambling on his loyalty with record cash reserves in the bank.

    Bizarre, but unfortunately unsurprising.

I still think the summer window will be the one to decide whether Rodgers stays beyond the 3 years.

he's not staying. He said 3 years and that's what he will do. He will bow out with another treble and leave us with a very strong team and loads of money. Hopefully the board actually have a plan for a replacement this time.

Lol. Still be scrambling around for a new manager even with the 3 years notice period Rodgers has given them.

I still hope he may sign an extension.

But it will be reliant on a very strong summer and see how it goes.

I don't trust them to replace him and if we don't alter the structure of the footballing department no manager worth anything will take us seriously. The only reason we have him is because he grew up supporting us.

Ideally we'd promote him to oversee the entire footballing structure at some point but that'll never happen.

Think he was always doing 3 regardless..

Any slim chance of more is gone after the last window.. we don't learn as a club and repeat the same mistakes.

Who has the energy for that.

I think people read way, way , WAY to much into his body language etc :56: :56: :56:

I am pretty sure that the reason why he is calm about the transfer window is because we have a very very good squad and are doing fantastic both domestically and in europe. We would not even dream of getting Jota back and Tierney in the summer if you asked a few months ago.

The board * it up by not getting a striker in but we are far from crashing headfirst. Its a great time to be a celt.
