You literally just asked if we tried to sign a striker yesterday?

It doesn't really matter though we failed to replace our best striker in the window, which is a disgrace.

Yesterday would have been the culmination of work done further back in the window, frustrating that it didn’t come to fruition because BR wanted a loan in but it’s not a disaster or any of these types of words being thrown about by some.

If we knew Kyogo was going from the summer, why were we still short of a striker going into yesterday?

Off course they tried but it shouldn’t have got to that. They knew Kyogo was going so how can we not line up a deal for a striker to come in like we lined up his sale?

Are you happy how Celtic go about their transfer business?

Did he want a loan? After the Motherwell game he sounded like he had to settle for a loan.. as we obviously failed with Kvistgaarden..and any other permanent targets..

Not a disaster but a disgrace we failed to back him properly, again..

And if we were to pick up a couple of injuries we're very thin..

As of Sunday he wanted a loan striker in yeah, didn’t happen not great but neither a disaster nor a disgrace particularly within the context of him actually being part of the delegation to London to do whatever business the club were looking to do.

Given we’ve made over 100 million from Ange signings/promotions from within I’m content yeah. The lack of a striker signing is frustrating, aye, but it doesn’t impact all the other work done over years.

Wouldn't be having him anywhere near the first team if he's signed the pre contract.

Not sure why we rejected the reported money offered tbh.

So one bird sticks a photo up at the airport with Brendan at the airport and all of sudden there's a delegation to London to sign a ST.. :56:

It is a disgrace and there's an incredible amount of gymnastics going on to try and pass it off as acceptable.. and that's part of the problem.. we're happy to settle for the bear minimum..

Sure Bayern is an tough ask, but it looks like we've just accepted our fate..

Then next season we have CL qualification to negotiate with players like Yang still in the first team squad and with no contingency in place for the loss/sale of players like Kuhn..

Aye but I'd be giving another one of the youth players a chance before him and take 500-800k.

He's 4th choice now anyway so hopefully doesn't come to that. Would never be playing someone who's leaving in the summer. Especially after playing only 1 game for the first team...different if its Larsson!

He was in London with Nicholson and Lawwell. What he was doing you nor I know but I guarantee you he’s not disgusted or furious or handing his resignation in given that is the case.

How do you know he and they were in London, genuine question?

Will be interesting to hear what he says today in his presser.. but the board have definitely failed to meet his expectations .. he'll likely be professional but we can definitely react whenever way we see fit on his and our behalf.

I’d imagine I’ve got more of a chance of a game for Celtic than he has now :giggle1:

I think he could’ve been given a chance this season, particularly when we’re so far ahead domestically and our strikers haven’t exactly been razor sharp in front of goal but ultimately he’s going down there in the hope he does something on loan in the championship/league 1 cause he’s not getting a sniff at a struggling EPL club who will be able to go and splash £40m on a striker at any given point.

I’m not particularly fussed at the fact Kyogo left cause £10m for a 30 year old who has been miles off the level he was when he first arrived is great business but not replacing him is frustrating albeit not a disaster. We’ve got Idah, Maeda and Kenny as our 3 strikers and Jota coming in means we’re no longer solely relying on Kuhn and Maeda as our only 2 decent options on the wing.

While I’ve been quite critical of him so far I think Idah will flourish knowing he’s now the main man. That young boys own goal going in and Kyogo going looks like the weight of the world has been lifted off his shoulders.

It's the only reason I can think of for not letting him go?

A couple of injuries and we're very light..

The most substantial rumour about why he was there was a charity dinner and nothing related to transfers.

Lawwell and Nicholson being there is based entirely off of that woman's tweets. Unless I've missed another update.

If he had went to London to see something over the line I'd imagine it would have been done. I can't imagine it was required for Schlupp, either.

Honestly not a clue, potentially just cause we can? The difference in finances between letting him go now and keeping him until the end of the season is hardly going to be noticeable with the money we’ve got stashed away. I’d be amazed if he seen another minute of game time though given he’s signed for another club when I’m assuming there was an offer on the table for him. I can only see him being frozen out the same way Kelly was when he signed a contract with Millwall.

Aye, so the only reason I can think off, is we've kept him because we might need to play him as a last resort.. otherwise we would have taken the extra £500k

The money made from Ange season 2021/22 is three years ago now and subsequent business has been poor. Even that Ange season we signed Jota, Giakoumakis and CCV on deadline day in a similar scramble to the summer there, by which point we had played a CL qualifier and lost with Bitton, Welsh and Dane Murray as our centre back options, because Ajer was refusing to play. Also Ralston at right back who was only given a year extension as we had no one else. Barkas in goals and he basically threw a freekick in the net and Soro in midfield.

January 22, is probably the only window I actually felt like we were organised and professional in our approach over the last decade.

Selling players by and large we have been fairly proficient at but being proactive in the market to get replacements or actually improve our squad leaves a lot to be desired.

    They were.

He’ll say we wanted another forward up top but we’ll go with the cards we’ve been dealt until the summer when we can find a longer term solution. Almost word for word.
