Would be nothing wrong with that idea (on paper, anyway).

    Good luck to him.

I kind of feel sorry for the guy. He's not going to be given any leeway for a poor performance due to the nature of this window, which isn't on him.

Unless he is outstanding from the off it could be rough. Good luck to him, I feel he is going to need it.

Tbh I don't think he will get that much stick.

For left back all we really needed was another option. And he's it.

If he was a new striker who was evidently 3rd or 4th choice or a lazy option. Maybe.

But the focus will be on the lack of a striker.

You can't do much if players don't want to come here on loans. And the Board will only act on a sense of urgency.
We are sitting at the top of the stack. There is no urgency

    Refresh in the summer.

I disagree, we needed more than an option at left back, but that is a different discussion.

Hopefully it doesn't matter and he doesn't get stick because he turns out to be great anyway.

We had a full window to do business. Kyogo left a week ago, and we knew for months he wanted away.

We chose to release Valle just under a week ago when clearly the Tierney deal was not close.

Every * else was capable of doing business. There is a clear urgency of we only have 1 established striker plus Johnny Kenny.

I beg to differ. There is no urgency when we have four strikers, and Schlupp at a push as a fifth.
There is no duffers there, they are all capable of scoring and making assists.
I don't know what all the fuss is about. You would think we were thirteen points behind the Huns and out of the Champions League the way some people are going on.

I repeat we are sitting on top of the stack.

Are you actually taking the * saying that Schlupp will be a striker?

We have 1 first team striker in Idah. A prospect in Johnny Kenny. A youth that isn't trusted to get any gametime (no, being the only other forward that could possibly get on at villa doesn't count) and is probably away on a free.

We have Maeda who's a winger (and suspended for the next CL game)

We got to be top by having a strong squad, we now have a weaker squad. We already saw what happened with a couple Injuries before that window.

Don’t let the disappointment of today cloud the fact this is actually a decent bit of cover until KT is back.

Proper utility man too, he can play anywhere.

Why would I take the * ,? Schlupp is a utility player, very versatile. If Maeda can fill in at striker, it stands to reason Schlupp could do the same too, but my disclaimer is, only at a push. Cummings is highly rated, played at Villa, and is being actively pursued by West Ham, I think you are doing him a disservice by dismissing him so easily, don't you ?. Kenny has had game time too, and looks a really good prospect, hungry for success, don't you think it is good that we are giving these young players a chance at last to break through into the team.?

I don't think we have a weaker squad at all.

A weak squad is when your so called 1st striker is missing sitters all the time for the past two years in the Champions League and the SPL.Time will tell, what side of the debate/argument is correct

Just need to wait and see how he does for us. If he's rubbish it's only a loan until the end of the season and we have Tierney coming in anyway.

Fantastic signing. Considering its early Feb, it’s essentially a 5 month loan where we get a free look at an (albeit ageing) experienced EPL player.

We have 20 games left this season. 14 in the league, 2 in the champions league (if we get past Bayern it’s a miracle) and I think max 4 Scottish cup games.

Considering the league is effectively won, he is versatile depth at LB (until Tierney comes in the summer) at LM while Jota gets up to speed; and can easily slot in to the midfield too.

Is he premier league quality still? No, but we can’t sign players that are premier league quality. I think he’ll surprise us, and we may just want to sign him permanently in a few months time…

At 32 presumably the question is whether he still has the pace to play at LB. I know next to nothing about him so will let others make that judgment.

Purely in itself it makes sense. We've lost an OK left back loanee and brought another in to replace him. And the fact he can also place defensive midfield is a bonus. It's a short term fix but we're mo worse off because of it.

The bigger concern is that once again it looks like a transfer Rodgers has facilitated phoning old friends at the very last minute. We're lucky to have him but we seem to have absolutely nothing outside of that as a strategy.

And the kyogo thing is another shambles but I really doubt that will stop fans supporting Schlupp.

Schlupp is not the one to blame here...

He has been asked by our amazing club to see if he would be willing to come in and do a job for us. He looked at what we are about and he said yes whilst many over the years from the EPL have said thanks but no thanks.

Give the boy a chance, we are Celtic supporters and we will back every player who pulls on the green and white jersey.

    Good luck big man :ynwacelti

Rodgers wanted him last season so it's definitely a player he likes, yes it's been a very uninspiring window but don't get the negativity with this signing.
