Brendan, Paul Tisdale's been in post for about six or seven weeks now. Can you tell us about how that's working and how you hope that will be at the club going forward?

Yeah, I think it'll be a big benefit for us. Paul came in here during the summer to help. I obviously control a lot of the core performance of the team, the B team and everything else that goes around that, media, everything else. But there's a side that runs beside that, which is, for me, the strategic operation of the club. And I felt there was a gap there in that. So I wanted to bring someone in just to see how that would go. Paul, not only has he managed before, which gives me comfort, he knows what it's like to be in the shoes of a manager, but he also understands the business side. So I felt that having someone in to help support that organisation and a lot of the logistics that go on at that level, from recruitment to academy to admin, for me, a modern club needs that. And if you're going to progress, you need that operation. Because if I'm out on the pitch and doing all the stuff there, it still needs to go on down here. Clearly, the business side of the club has run immaculately. You only need to look at Celtic over many, many years. But from a strategy perspective, that was Paul's role. So he links in very closely with Michael and myself, along with Dermot, in terms of the strategy. And we obviously converse a lot, we speak a lot, and he will bring his strength to that role

How busy has he been in the recruitment team?

Been quite busy, yeah. Very clever up here, you know. It's always ongoing, isn't it? Even if we're not just looking for January, it's beyond. We get meetings this afternoon around our young players and looking at that strategy. So it's ongoing. I always say you can't wait for the future to plan for the future. You've got to be looking at it now to look forward, and the club's in a great place, we're in a great moment, but we have to always look forward. That is a part of his role, to oversee that and to make sure that we are in the best possible position as a football club to grow that department in order to get the best players in, so that we can perform

Since then, more youth talent has left/leaving and we've brought in one player, Jota, a guy identified long before Tisdale came.

    What a job.

I don't see how he can be the one primarily blamed.

He surely identifies players, price ranges and presents them to Rodgers. The latter will OK certain ones and then it's over to the board and Nicholson to cough up.

If we start sitning players and they're *, e.g. with Congerton and Hammond, then aye, I suppose he will deserve some criticism.

The youth side of things is a difficult one. As we won't pay the wages for talent that EPL clubs can afford to waste.

It's only been a handful of months to be fair.
It's a reactionary post out of frustration.

But, one to highlight and keep a close eye on.

So far, he's not done anything that would appear to be positive on relation to what we are told he is here to do.

He's barely in the door though and with all due respect wr don't know what kind of job he's done internally.

We can only assume based on what players are linked etc but for all you and I know he's presented 10 maybe 20 feasible options to Rodgers who's OKd half of them and the money men aren't doing their part.

Its definitely not on Tisdale to release the funds. He's just another cog in the PLC machine.

But that all then just begs the question, What's the point in hiring the guy if the men upstairs are just gonna treat him the same way as the manager?

For the record, the post is more frustration at the board appointing him, than at him.

As in, why bother hiring the guy in the first place.
Just seems, as done before, it was lip service to appease the fans for a few months.

Not sure but your points there come back to what I'm saying.

It's the money men who will ultimately sign of players.

I don't really see a point in pointing fingers at tisdale until we've actually paid money for signings he's recommended.

Think our recruitment off the pitch is worse than on it

If he's here to identify players for us to go for, why is it all the same names we've heard before?

Did the last recruitment buy not come out and say he was given an impossible task like we wanted full international players for no more than 50p?

Schlupp and Danny Ings? There should be riots. Club is a * joke if this is it. And all the happy clappers saying we're entitled can go * themselves.

I can forgive most of this window, but if Ings is the best we can do, knowing Kyogo was for the off for months, then heads need to roll. Inexcusable.

I think the problem here is they can come up with idea but ultimately don’t have final say to execute them in regards to contracts and signings

A certain pompous grey haired oriental looking man interferes in it
