I think we might get a loan to cover left back but doubt we will see anything else.

Think board will look at it that the squad needs to be strengthen for next season but not necessarily the remainder of this season due to the lead we have. So wont push the boat out on any expenditures.

Left back - we are short but have KT coming in the Summer. Expect maybe a loan there and target retaining Taylor. Doubt they will another LB.

    CB - not a priority

    RB - not a priortiy.

Midfield - We have 5 CMs playing for 3 starting spots. Dont think they will see need to strengthen as a priority.

Wide forwards - Jota in to support Maeda and Kuhn. Yang as back up. Forrest to come back at some point.

Striker - Idah will get a chance in the main seat - how he does will likely influence what business we do for a striker in the summer. Board will always have one eye on resale - and wont want a 9MM pound signing sitting on the bench. Kenny might get some minutes. Maeda can play there if needed.

Why do you think he's going?

I would agree that he probably won't stay beyond 3 years.

The issues with the board are unfortunately still there. His comments evidently showing his frustrations at the slowness.

I ain't of the opinion that keeping kyogo was an option. And I think the board knew that as well, so why it is taking this long to secure a replacement is quite concerning.

We've been scouting this guy for 2 years and we are here with about 10 hours to go in the window needing a replacement and he is evidently not signing. So something is going wrong somewhere in the way we are doing our deals.

If we don't get anything done today then the ramifications for the future of Rodgers time here will be massive. Which is the biggest concern for me...don't thjnk the board again realise how good they've got it with him. And some fans don't either.

I think you’re spot on in your assessment of what the board will do and how they see it. I can’t say I agree with this reasoning as I think it’s important we strengthen now before our next CL game and to ensure those players are bedded in for qualifiers. However, the ambition for the rest of this season (league win, cup win) can most likely be accomplished with the players we have and I don’t think they will look to new heights in the way the fan base and BR would do.

I'm pretty sure Rodgers will be here for at least another season, think it was always his intention to complete the 3 seasons as a minimum, leaving before then would put him back to square one with supporters, he wouldn't want that and it would defeat the whole purpose of him coming back in the first place.

I'm actually impressed with our incompetence this window.. actively allowing a loan to be cut short in January on the basis of a pre contract for the summer is a new one for us.

Aye that just really doesn't make sense.

Unless the goalposts have moved with Tierney since we sanctioned it.

As it stands we come out this window with a weaker squad. Need some big rabbits out some big * hats soon.

2 Januarys in a row we have left ourselves with 1 left back for the rest of the season, what a club.

Just to be absolutely clear we have sold the best striker we've had in the last 15 years and we have NOT replaced him.

We are probably not going to replace him either. We may or may not get a loan in.

Anyone who thinks this is acceptable or is not bothered are part of the problem in our support.

There's a few reasons I think he will go but fundamentally I think he would just prefer to be other places and he thinks those opportunities might be forthcoming. Don't want to go too off-topic in this thread, will probably mention it at some point in his thread!

I completely agree the Kyogo situation isn't ideal, but I think there's too much panic that he has to be replaced in this window. We're about 63% through the league campaign with ~13 point lead. We signed Idah for £9m in the summer and we only play one striker. He's in form now and we know he can do it in this league.

Maeda showed at the weekend yet again, he is a striker more than capable for what we need. Jota was brought in which helps free him up.

LB is a mess - but at worst he's getting a world class upgrade that he wanted in the summer.

Things are going so well that we'll spend decent money in the summer for a striker and a winger that won't even be first choice behind Idah and Jota/Maeda/Kuhn. Our backline will be the best it's been since Christ knows when.

I really understand why people are saying this situation isn't ideal, but this season doesn't have long to run and the pieces are moving into place for next season. Money is being reliably spent at Celtic. Wages will break records.

It's unfortunate that our targets' clubs have been difficult but I'd genuinely rather have the £10m and a loan striker until the summer than have an unhappy Kyogo for the rest of the season then go for next to nothing.

Hearts have been getting players out the door this windows clearing the decks for new transfer strategy under a Jamestown/tony bloom

They only signed onyegoke and just let him go their for 600 k

They let rowes go to mls for 600 k and he was an international
I suppose it will be the same with penrice

I’m of this opinion the striker we will be after will be bought as back up / potential to take over from idah when he is sold for larger some ( squad planning so to speak ) we do t play with 2 upfront mind

Yeah I mean, I can see him staying, but the narrative being built would help him leave early without too much flack. I've personally never minded the thought of him leaving any summer by default and I think if people can blame the board that would also help keep his reputation intact.

Worth pointing out, I don't think he came back primarily because of how the support feels about him. It might be a factor but there's obviously other drivers too.

I think the support view Idah as a "back up / rotation" striker. But at 9MM expenditure, the board probably dont feel the same. And while its clear they are open to buying another striker, our main target is holding out for 14MM which is massive money for us and makes any resale profit skinny. I think the board will want to see how Idah gets on as the main option before deciding whether to buy a new primary striker and bumping Idah down to a bench option again. Or seeing if Idah grows into the role and they can look at a less expensive striker in the Summer.
