3-0 before half time ghirls look to be getting the job done

 

the table as it stands, I hope we can get a few more tonight and cut the GD between ourselves GC and the verminettes.

Sadiku gets a bit of stick, granted her record against the huns isn't good at all but win our game in hand and we can go joint top, couple that with our first CL group participation, I don't think it is too bad overall. Would expect our form to pick up

 

Good performance

 

Just as important was Hibs beating City today, which means the Ghirls are 3 points behind leaders City with a game in hand. Win that and they leapfrog both Hibs & Sevconettes. They are a long way back on GD, so all that Elena Sadiku's team can do is just keep winning.

That game in hand I believe is againt Queen's Park on Wednesday.

The showdown v City in a couple of weeks time is going to be massive.

 

Big game for the women tonight too. Every game is considering how tight that league is this season.

Still not convinced with Sadiku, but they have a big big chance to seize the initiative in the title race with a few more wins (including the game against City).

If she manages to win the title again, it'll shut up a lot of critics (myself included).

 

That was the catch up game and got the win (and closed a bit of the GD gap) that was expected.

That brings the Ghirls level with City at the top of the table, but City are +8 ahead on GD.

Which means Celtic play United (currently sitting bottom) in the next league game, but the match after that is against City, and that is looming as massive, massive, massive. Could potentially be season defining.

 

Celtic FC Women are delighted to announce the signing of Japanese midfielder Momo Nakao, subject to international clearance.

The 22-year-old, originally from Inzai City, Chiba, Japan, brings experience and quality to Elena Sadiku's side.

As a youth player, Nakao progressed through JEF United Chiba Women’s academy, where she won the U18 National Championship and was promoted to the senior squad before moving to the United States to pursue a collegiate career.

Nakao has also been a part of the Japanese youth national team set-up, representing her country at U16, U17, and U19 levels. She competed in the U17 World Cup in Uruguay in 2018, showcasing her ability on the international stage.

In 2021, Nakao moved to the United States to join the University of Memphis, where she established herself as one of the top midfielders in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Over four seasons, she started all 79 matches, contributing 15 goals and 15 assists.

Reacting to the deadline day signing, Celtic FC Women's Head Coach, Elena Sadiku, said: “I’m really excited to see Momo in our environment.

'She has great experience from Japan’s youth national team and being captain for her college team.'

"The fans can expect a player that gives everything for her team-mates and the club. She’s very professional and very talented. She has a great game vision and is very technical.”
