"I'm sure matching your current wages won't be a problem KT, what are you on at Arsenal just now?"

I don’t think we would have let Valle go if we weren’t extremely confident of getting Tierney in this month.

I think this must be happening…

    I hope so anyway :giggle1:

That Arsenal LB, Lewis-Skelly, just had his 3 match ban overturned.
Surely that makes the decision to let KT come to us in January even easier?!

Think it could depend on whether Zinchenko leaves.

They’ve had a few injuries recently in the full back positions, all of which seem to have just about cleared up. Timber and Calafiori are back, plus White and Tomiyasu will be back very soon. Three out of the four can (and have) play left back. Add to that Lewis-Skelly’s ban being rescinded.

They’re in a far stronger position now at full back than they have been recently, so they can afford to let both go this month.

I’d be amazed if they want to keep him on their books. They’ve got 3 or 4 ahead of him when all fit which they seem to be now, even if Zinchenko goes. A few million to get someone of KT’s quality in, even if just for the knockout games is nothing so we need to be doing everything we can to get it done now, rather than wait.

Don't understand why Arsenal wouldn't want to do a deal for us to sign him now. Even if we contribute a tiny % of his wages, that's still a bit less than Arsenal would be paying for the same amount of playing time for them. They'll play hardball a bit but we hold all the cards here.

It's Arsenal who hold the cards here, if they think they might need him - he'll stay to summer, simple as.
We aren't going to pay £120k a week either for 2 UCL games and an already tied up SPFL.
Why should Arsenal loan one of their employees to us for (virtually) free when they are leaving anyway?

Zinchenko obviously key, but with KT being on bench and getting some game time lately, I'm less confident (but still hopeful) we'll get him in Feb.

The recent Scales appearances do give me the fear this wont be January. We need to be smart - as much as he's been here before with this managed, it's effectively a whole new team and he needs a run of games.

Just pay the salary for 4 months, Celtic.

Stop dicking about and pay arsenal the money they want.

We can't play Taylor against Real Madrid or Bayern.

Getting him in now is so important. He adds experience, physicality, dig, street smarts and a bit of swagger to the team.

The issue is that on one hand we want to manage his game time and gradually build it up, but on the other we want him raring to go in two weeks time to face one of the best teams on the planet.

Could really, really, be doing with his physical attributes in that left back position.

Taylor having set up a goal when he showed this tonight makes me feel slightly guilty about it but his * drive and directness is something I’m desperate to see again. AJ brings that on the opposite side. It’s been years seeing it on both sides at full back, * I can remember being desperate for it when Tierney brought it on the left and Lustig couldn’t provide it.

Matthews was one foot out the door in his head already and we seen it once against Inter him doing it on the right Tierney left I think. But every set up we’ve had since then, we’ve not. I keep saying the same thing but the prospect of KT/Jota one wing, AJ/Kuhn the other. The drive from full backs, quality and skill infront of them, quality on the overlap and link up and the absolute grit, determination and importantly the quality defensively man.

For the game or two before KT’s hammy implodes, can’t * wait to see it
