I'm sure there is a really good doc on i-player about growing up Irish in Birmingham which obviously covers the bombings, the aftermath and the impact on the Irish community.

 

I'm sorry for hurting your feelings. Just stating the obvious, what has politics that are outdated now got to do with this game in particular.

 

My feelings aren’t hurt man,and they never are regardless of what’s sung or what happens at football.I prefer Celtic songs and songs about players for what it’s worth.I just think it’s hypocritical for people to demand behaviour from our support which is never reciprocated.

Hopefully everyone who is down at the game has a good time and there’s no issues.I’m sure it’ll be well policed anyway.

Don't have a problem with being proud of our Irish heritage and I sing many of the songs myself, but in my mind there's a marked difference between support for Republicanism, the IRA of 1916 etc. and support for the PIRA.

I don't think support for the Provos is acceptable in any sense. Half of the people who chant about them either think they're being edgy and rebellious, or aren't anywhere near as politically knowledgeable as they think they are.

 

I wonder what sort of reception James McClean would get at Villa Park. Just asking

Just watched the first half of their game. They are seriously quick all over the pitch. We will severely miss Maeda and Kyogo against this lot.

 

Mings looks like he's missing our game, leaving only Konsa as their only CB.

 

Their midfield is very strong as well, could out muscle us in there. West Ham have had a lot of joy since the goal though. The extra few days rest for our boys helps massively I think.

Watching Villa game atm and they are struggling to break down the back three of West Ham, Brendan should definitely be considering utilizing it with CCV, Trusty and Scales

If not, then I also like the thought of 4-3-1-2, Schmeichael in goal, back four of Johnston, CCV, Trusty, Valle, central three of McGregor, Engels, Bernardo, Hatate just ahead, then Kuhn with a free role in and around Idah

This would be my team too. But I highly doubt Rodgers will make such 'drastic' changes.

Villa can definitely be got at, they aren't consistent this season and look particularly weak at defending crosses/set pieces.

Still think the task is probably too much for us though with no Maeda or Kyogo .

There was a Leicester fan on the Huddle Breakdown podcast just after Brendan returned who said Brendan was flexible in changing formations/systems according to the opposition (for example away to Man City when Leicester won 5-2 Brendan started with three CBs), yet since Brendan has came back, I can't think of a single occasion where he hasn't started with a 4-3-3, hopefully he finally experiments with something different on Wednesday given there's no Maeda or Kyogo, given we're through don't see why we shouldn't try something different with the system and formation

 

Most likely you would be correct.

 

Even more so given yesterdays game been called off we have extra time to work on a different shape as well. Maybe a 4-2-3-1 with both McGregor and Bernardo sitting deeper in midfield and Idah as the 9.

 

In my mind 95% of the folk who draw a marked difference between the IRA of 1916 and the PIRA know the square root of * all about either.
